Hi everyone, so I found out a week ago that I'm having identical twins. It's looking as though they will be identical and share a placenta and sac. Last night the sickness went up a few levels. Any tips on twin pregnancies? How did you deal with the risks that you get bombarded with?

Twin pregnancy
Congratulations! I had twins but separate sacs and placentas. To be honest I just took it one day at a time - I set myself little goals - get to 12 weeks, get to 20 weeks, get to 24 weeks (when I knew a hospital would definitely try and save them) then my next goal was estimated weights - I wanted to get them at least to 4lb - don’t know why just felt like a good number. I was told I might have to choose between saving my little twin at the expense of my big twin. I managed to hold on to 34 weeks and got my little twin just over 4lb and both born healthy. I went on bed rest at 18 weeks and cut back as much exertion and stress as I could
Obviously for you your twins are much higher risk than mine - but don’t be afraid to question everything or push for second opinions or extra scans. I paid for a lot of extra private scans - not at one of those window to the womb high street types but at a private maternity hospital but it helped keep my anxiety under control Too
Hi Ivfgotadream,Interesting to know that you had extra scans. Please if you do not mind me asking, how many extra scans did you have?
I am currently 19 weeks pregnancy with non identical twins, my last private scan was at 15 weeks to relieve my anxiety, my 20 week scan is a week tomorrow, I struggled this week and will next week with a bit of worry.
I held off going for another private scan as there is a lot of conflicting information online about scanning too much. But it is really reassuring to know that your babies were born healthy and that extra scans helped you.
After my 20 week scan I will be scanned monthly so that is a bit more reassuring to know.
Congratulations! I’m currently 18 weeks with none identical twins and I had horrendous sickness. I tried three lots of medication from the drs and a couple of hospital visits. Thankfully at 14 weeks the sickness subsided. This is my second pregnancy and I have to admit it’s a whole other ball game compared to carrying just one. Call your drs if you need help don’t be afraid to ask. Mine were outstanding and so supportive.
Eat little and often and get the water in where you can and rest a lot.
Good luck xxx
