Beginning ivf treatment

Hiya everyone,

I had my egg collection in 2019. I’m now ready for the ivf, treatment starts in a few days. What should I expect. I’m a bit nervous

Heya So if egg collection is already done, you’ve done the hard part! Have you frozen eggs, or embryos? If you’ve frozen eggs, they’ll be defrosted and fertilised - if you’ve frozen embryos they’ll just thaw them ready for replacement (one at a time).

Embryo replacement is so much easier than egg collection, so try not to worry. You just take some hormones (pills, usually) for a couple of weeks abs they pop the embryo in, it’s a super simple procedure.

Thanks McQueeny, eggs already collected. Does the pills have any adverse side effects?

I think they can cause tiredness or sometimes headaches, depending on how your body reacts - but for me never anything more serious. It’s only oestrogen, so nothing as strong as the hormones you inject before egg collection x

Good luck i am on medication preparing your go to london for transfer in 2 weeks time I'm anxious .... how long would it need to stay in London approx before travelling back home ?
