Hi All, I had the viability scan yesterday and is a normal pregnancy and I could hear a heartbeat. I started to cry instantly. It's the most amazing feeling.I have been discharged from the Fertility Clinic and they told I have to call the GP to let them know. What is the next step?

Congratulations!!! Next step would be bloods at gp (I think) and registering with a maternity ward at your local hospital for your 12 week scan / midwife appointment… so exciting!! Really happy for you 💖🌺💐 xx

Congratulations! Such a wonderful feeling after all the stress of fertility treatment. Not sure if it is different where you are but generally the GP does not need to see you. I called my GP once I was discharged from the Fertility Clinic as I thought they'd need to know but they told me that I had to self refer to a hospital of my choice. I picked the hopsital and found the self referal to maternity department forms on their website. Filled them out and then they contacted me a week later to arrange my 8 week appointment with a midwife. This was over the phone (not sure if it will be in person in your area). Then they booked me in for the 12 week scan.

I'd give your GP reception a call and they will tell you whether you need to self refer or they can do it for you. Have a look at your local hospital options and pick one. Good luck x

Congrats that’s amazing ! 🥳Where I am you don’t need the GP, you just call the community midwife team and they refer you to your chosen hospital for all the standard check ups x
