I don’t know what my egg quality would have been like on long protocol as I didn’t do that one but for me the milder the protocol and less eggs we targeted the better my eggs and embryo quality was x
As far as I can tell, different protocols suit different people and it’s hard to know whether short or long will be better for you personally until you try. Your stats are very similar to mine (AMH 7.6, AFC 11-14). I did long protocol twice and got on well with it with I think a nice balance of numbers and quality. I would suggest going with your clinic’s advice on the first round but if you feel strongly about it then raise your concerns with them and ask why they feel long is better. I would be surprised if they flat refused to do short if you really want to try that way first xx
I have done two collections one long and one short. Both got similar eggs 17 long and 16 short. Short got many more mature eggs and blasts though. I also got pretty sick from long and found the short very low impact. HOWEVER agree with the above comment that it’s completely different for everyone. I think the standard protocol for a lot of clinics is long first unless you have a high chance of overstimulation or for older patients.
I have also done both (AMH 9.4). I started with a long protocol, 7 eggs collected and 6 made it to blastocysts. Second round I tried short protocol and 9 eggs were collected, 8 mature and 7 made it to blastocysts with 6 being good quality (one good enough to freeze but not strong enough to transfer on its own they said).
So really, both similar results but I preferred the short protocol overall. I never get very many follicles during stims. My first round there were 11 and second 5 or 6 showing on the scan which at first worried me, but I actually got more mature eggs from less follicles with the short protocol than I did with the first.
I agree with the above comments though, everyone responds differently to treatment and so you need to trust your doctors guidance. Good luck 🍀🤞🏻 Xxx
