Rise in TSH

Hi All,

Feeling really stressed this evening. I’m currently 4dp5dt, I have an under active thyroid and also Hashi’s. It’s been well controlled over the past couple of years and I have a private endo because my GP was useless when it came to this subject. Anyway I’ve been testing my thyroid levels throughout my IVF cycle but unfortunately there’s quite a delay in the results coming back from the company. This evening I found out my TSH has shot up to 2.2 from 0.34 from the bloods I took on Monday. I’m terrified this is going to have a negative impact. Has anyone had anything similar in their tww?

Any advice welcome, feeling totally deflated.

X

You should be OK, as you have caught it early. Call your endocrinologist and increase your dose asap. Then monitor every 4 weeks. Preferably with a lab that will send you the results within 2 days. Not sure if you have choice of labs or not.

Thank you Marisa, I just don’t want to have any doubts you know. I’ve taken an extra 25mcg this morning, see what my endo comes back with now. I think I’ll up the postage, it’s probably the mail getting there late x

From what I understand, your TSH can rise during this period and I was told if I got a positive pregnancy test, to increase my thyroxine dose from 50mg daily to 75mg daily. Check with your clinic and endocrinologist, they’ll be able to advise but try not to worry xx

Thank you for coming back to me. I have taken an extra 25mg this morning, hope that’s enough and doesn’t take too long to get into my system. Just don’t want it to jeopardise my chances you know x

Of course, it’s so natural to worry about these things and I’d be the same. I believe it to work quite quickly so keep positive 🤞🏻🍀

Hi Catlady, how did it all go? I’m due embryo transfer on Thursday (2 days away) and my TSh has shot up from 0.3 at the start of oestrogen priming to 5.02 today. My consultant hasn’t come back to me and im panicking x

Hi Katie, I did add an extra 25mcg every other day until my next bloods which from memory were later that week (I was testing privately twice a week), my consultant and GP then agreed to up my dose so I’m currently on 75mcg of levo a day along with Erfa thyroid twice a day, and I’m 16 weeks tomorrow 🥰 I know how stressful it feels to want everything in order when going through IVF and our thyroids don’t play ball. Don’t be afraid to push your consultant. My levels recovered really quickly so don’t panic you will definitely get them back under control. Wishing you all the luck lovely xxx

Congratulations Catlady101 I’m really panicking though because it’s 5 before transfer. It’s supposed to be less than 2.5. Am I right in thinking yours never went above 2.5? X

I think the highest I had was 2.73 after transfer, it seemed okay up until then. As soon as I had a recharge in meds it went back down to 0.27 which was around 10 days after. It’s definitely the oestrogen that seems to cause the rise xx

Yes it’s definitely the oestrogen :( will see what my consultant says tomorrow. Just wish he had come back to me today. Not ideal x
