I am 39 age and my AMH is 0.19.I had three eggs for collection, I had just three eggs and I used OVITREKKE INJECTION 33 hours before my appointment for egg collection.
BUT, when I went for egg collection doctor told me that You ovulated yesterday and there are no eggs left for IVF . all was OVITRELLE problem!

Oh, how unlucky! I was wondering how often that happens. I think it’s pretty rare. Did they do an IUI to try see if the sperm find it’s way to those released eggs? You had to ovulate less than 24hours before, so at least a chance...
If the doctor thinks you ovulated many hours before the collection (just a few hours after the medication) then your ovulation may have been trigger by your own body with an LH peak. We’re you taking anything to prevent premature ovulation? I think your doctor can clarify what happened!
I’m so sorry this happened to you, hopefully your doctor can give you an explanation as to why you ovulated early.
I’ve taken Ovitrelle as a trigger on three cycles, including a double dose (two pens) and I’ve never ovulated before egg collection so I don’t think it’s a common issue, just in case anyone sees this post and worries xx
I’m sorry this has happened to you. I’ve used ovitrelle on all my cycles and I’ve never ovulated early. Maybe the doctor could do some investigation to see what’s happened. Ivf is stressful enough I don’t want people to be stressing about the ovitrelle injection too.
As the others have said I don’t believe this is a common occurrence! I’ve used both Ovitrelle and Supercur and this didn’t happen to me. My sister who donated to us used Supercur to and was fine - hopefully the consultant can give you answers
I’ve done four cycles of IVF and always used Ovitrelle as a trigger injection and never ovulated early. I had a double trigger in my last cycle and it was fine.
Sadly premature ovulation is a known risk but rare.
Sorry it’s happened to you. Hopefully your doctor will have an answer for you and plan B for next time
Are you sure it was ovitrelle to blame? It’s a very common trigger drug - when did the clinic give you your last blood test before saying to do the trigger - were they closely monitoring your LH levels? And were you given cetrotide to take to prevent early ovulation?
I had ovitrelle with 16 follicles and 10 were empty and they think it was my protocol and trigger combo as they overmatured too early. I had no fertilisation as well which was a kicker. They think I just need to tweak meds next time for better results. I don’t feel ovitrelle or the other drugs are to blame, I just didn’t take to them like I should have. Second time lucky hopefully.
Agreed. I also dont think my body takes to these meds. Ive either ovulated early or had empty follicles or eggs which didnt fertilise. I felt like a lost cause.
Sorry this happened to you. Same thing happened to me once. Its not the Ovitrelle, you just needed closer monitoring. It's truly a horrible feeling when this happens.
Hey x that’s so disappointing I know. It happened to me too and things were looking really good too. I had 9 good sized follicles and ovulated before EPU. I don’t think it’s the ovidrelle. In my case I was taking orgalutran to stop ovulation but apparently it doesn’t work for everyone. My specialist switched me to syneral on my next cycle which worked.
Even though these IVF drugs worked most of the time, sometimes our bodies are clever enough to over ride them.
I Hope your specialist can put you on a protocol that works for you next cycle.
A similar thing happened to me on my first cycle. I was on Orgalutran, final trigger injection was Decapeptyl, 36h later egg retrieval. Doctor was expecting to retrieve 9 eggs, on the day of collection there were only 4. She said I ovulated early - no explanation.
Sorry to hear this, the same thing happened to me last week. i had 2 big follicles but when they did egg collection they saw i had already ovulated. i have been told it’s more likely to happen when you have less follicles.
i took ovitrel as well. have they recommend a different trigger for next time?
I’m so sorry this happened to you. I also have ovulated early and lost eggs twice. In my case it was using Gonasi 10,000iu trigger. But the cause was my own LH surges, which happened despite using cetrotide to control this. In future cycles my LH levels were monitored very closely, sometimes with blood tests daily towards the final few days of the cycle. And if necessary, I used double cetrotide doses as well if it looked like my LH was rising, one in the morning and one in the evening. I also used a 34 hour rather than 36 hour trigger in later cycles. Again I’m so sorry about what happened to you. I was absolutely devastated when I lost eggs and found it one of the hardest parts of my IVF journey. But hopefully your clinic can come up with a plan to monitor future cycles if that’s the pathway you want to go. Sending hugs x
