Out of 18 eggs, 10 mature.. none fertilised. I just can’t even believe it. I don’t know what else I can do.

None fertilised
Ohhh Amy1122, i understand how you feel!!! Did the clinic said anything!?
I'm so sorry! I know how disheartening this must be. Is this your first round? Did they use ICSI?
In my first round, 3 out of my 11 (mature) eggs fertilised - which was a low fertilisation rate. They told me it looked like a egg/sperm binding issue (the sperm were just sort of swimming around the eggs). This round they used ICSI and out of 15 mature eggs 13 fertilised - so a huge improvement, and we got 7 blastos.
I know ICSI isn't fail proof - but i'm sure your clinic will be able to advise you about options depending on what they think the problem is. Calcium Ionophore is another option my clinic mentioned - it artificially activates the egg.
So sorry Amy. This is horrendous news. Has your other half had sperm dna fragmentation test?
Have you been with the same clinic the whole time?
18 eggs is a lot, and 10 is a good number to fertilise... Sounds more likely a sperm issue to me. If so, Impryl is good to improve male sperm quality, but I'd look into the male side first.
Don't assume donor sperm /eggs is your next step.
So sorry 😔 x
Oh Amy1122 so awful for you both, my heart goes out to you. Hopefully they will be able to say why. As someone mentioned it may be a sperm issue?? Big hugs, I hope you get some answers.
So sorry to hear this - I had this on my 2nd round and it's devastating. We all know things can go wrong and IVF isn't guaranteed but no one expects it at this stage. We had 19 eggs and zero fertilisation using ICSI as well. The clinic couldn't explain it and tried to blame it on sperm quality as my husband had a recent cancer diagnosis. However, we went onto use the same batch of frozen sperm at a new clinic and we had 12 eggs and got 3 blastocysts. The clinic never gave us a satisfactory answer. We moved clinics as a result and changed protocol and I strongly believe that's what made a difference. We got a BFP on that cycle but sadly had a MMC but then on the 4th round we got 4 blastocysts and went onto get a BFP and we're currently 32 weeks. As others have said please don't assume you just need to move to donor sperm / eggs at this stage I would say protocol is key especially if this is your 1st round. Wishing you lots of luck xx
This is terrible. May I ask which clinic it is?
I'm really sorry Amy1122. Your fertilization rates reminded me of a woman I follow on Instagram, #maybe_baybe_bax. She recently had her 6th retrieval (after 5 retrievals she only had 2 embryos due to very poor egg quality),but on this last one she changed protocol, she tried lower stims and she got 5 out of 19 fertilized. Please go have a look at her story, maybe a change in protocol can help? Wish you all the best
