Hello All, its been 6 months since i posted on here and i thought i would share some hope following our journey.
My gf 38 and I 40 hav been trying for a baby for 4 years with no success. Our GP referred us for IVF on NHS. After a number of tests, we were told gf had a lower egg count than we thought. As we were about to start the cycle, gf fell pregnant naturally but wasnt to be as she miscarried at 6 weeks. We tried again for months but nothing.
We eventually decided to try IVF privately and paid for 2 cycles. The first cycle didnt work and second was a chemical miscarriage. In the second cycle we were lucky to have 2 embryos left after the transfer which we froze. After waiting a number of months due to the fertility clinic being closed because of the first lockdown we were ready to try using the frozen embryos. All we had to do was wait for gf to have her period. This time she was late by 3 days. We took a deep breath and took a pregnancy test it was a BFP. We couldnt believe it! Still very sceptical we took a number of test over next few days and all were positives. We decided to pay for 2 private scans at 6 and 10wks which showed a heartbeat. We finally started to believe! Now gf is 33wks pregnant and feel so lucky to get this far and are so close to meeting our little one. We chose to not find out sex of baby so will be a nice surprise.
Its been a long journey to get this far, both mentally and emotionally, so we both know how difficult the journey can be. I have read many success stories on here and hoped we would be one of those one day. So far everything is going well. If it can work for us, there is hope for others too.
I wish you all the best on your journey xx.
