Base line scan

Just been for my baseline scan (day 14 of buserelin) and there’s 13 follicles on the right and 12 on the left, is this about right? I’ve looked online but with differing answers! Thank you xx

Hi Surfer, I've seen a lot of people mention that they were told at their baseline scan how many follicles they had, but the nurse who scanned me the other day just said they were 'looking good'. She showed me both my ovaries on screen and pointed out some of the follicles but it was hard to make much out! 😄

I did see someone say on here that the numbers could change from baseline scan to egg collection, which might be why they weren't too specific with me. Sounds like you've got a good amount though 👍🏻 Hope the next stage goes well for you! xx

That’s a shame you didn’t get told how many there were, to be honest I have no idea how they can tell, it’s all just grey fuzz to me!!

Yey! Glad it went well and yes that’s a good number! I had 8 on my first go and 3 made it to day 5 once I had the collection. Do you have another scan or waiting on your egg collection day xx

I have two more scans, one next Wednesday and another on the Friday. I start stuns tomorrow but had a call from the consultant tonight to ask me to inject less than they had previously told me too as they don’t want to over stimulate. All very exciting and nerve racking at the same time! Xx

Yes numbers can change but you just got to take each step at a time as it feel like there are so many hurdles to cross off as you go along so glad the scan went well for you today

Ah yes my friend ended up with OHSS and it isn’t pleasant.

IVF is definitely a rollercoaster! It’s exciting as things are happening but with all the test etc and like I said before crossing each hurdle can be nerve racking but this site helps a lot.

Hey Surfer9,That sounds a great number of follicles. You must be pleased and hopefully they will all grow to the required size. I had 4 on my last scan and now I have 8 and they are measuring at a size that the consultant is happy with, this means that my egg collection will take place on Friday ☺️ and my transfer will take place on either Monday or Wednesday. Keeping everything crossed for us all 🤞🏻🙏🏻 X

That’s amazing news, so exciting to be so close to egg collection. Are you doing anything differently during the next few days? Diet / lifestyle etc wise? I’ve started acupuncture and juicing (only one a day) but Just interested in anyone else’s tricks!

Having heard from a few people on here I realise it is a great number of follicles that we have, so fingers crossed they all do what they need to do! Xx

I know, I feel like I’m on a constant rollercoaster.. up and down. Yes, I’ve been drinking around 8 glasses of water per day and I started acupuncture in Nov, so, been continuing with that.. I really believe this works hand in hand with the IVF.. my lining is 11.5 which the consultant says is really good, so feel really positive about everything today. Also been listening to pre egg collection meditation music on Spotify, the lady is called Jackie Brown and there is one for each stage of the ivf process.. I listen to this before I go to sleep at night! Keep me posted, everything crossed for us xx

Ooh thank you! I’m going to go and listen to that now!! I’m trying to increase water (just been and grabbed another glass 🤣) but it’s hard to remember!!

Yep, really good to stay hydrated! You need to get a giant water bottle and keep it at the side of you. 😂😂 You probably know this.. only have a warm bath, not a hot one! Loads of bubbles.. Get Spotify on whilst your in the bath.. keep the lights turned off, close your eyes and relax! PS don’t fill the bath too full and then fall asleep! Be safe. Xx
