*Sensitive* - 7 week scan - one doing well and the other a week behind - any experiences?

Hi all, After much anxiety and spotting/ bleeding for a week, I had my 7 week scan today. I'm 41 and was bracing myself for the worst, feeling time is running out, and so pleased when the nurse found one strong looking baby, measuring right for 7 weeks 2 days. I mentioned that 2 embryos were transferred and then she found another one! Unfortunately the second is only measuring at 6 weeks and not looking too strong.

The nurse could see the bleeding and wasn't sure what was causing it, but said it was looking like hopefully the bleeding may not affect the healthiest baby, but it could be a sign that my body may be preparing to pass the weaker baby.

I'm just so pleased that something positive seems to be going on in there!

I have a follow up scan in a week's time.

Has anybody had experiences like this, and how did it turn out? Did you take lots of rest as a caution for the bleeding? Worried I shouldn't walk so much as should take it easier.

I've been following that there seems to have been a few twin pregnancies on here recently, which is amazing, but obviously anxiety provoking too.

I hope everybody are doing well on their journeys. Good luck and baby dust to you all xx

Obviously every scenario is different, but my friends in America had a similar situation. They had a strong boy and a slower developing girl, there were concerns she wouldn't make it. However, she was absolutely fine. The boy was born with a hole in his intestine (he's fine now) but because they were so concerned about her, it was a shock that the boy had an issue. they're both now doing great. This is a couple who had the worst luck with ivf and these two were their last chance at being parents, but their story always gives me hope. I hope it gives yuo hope too x

Hi Orangeflowers. From what you are describing it does seem as if the larger one will continue to progress. However, the smaller one can still catch up, so we will have to wait until your next scan. Hope all continues as it should. Diane
