I was having my first midwife call the other day and she put me as high risk and told me I will be seeing the doctor after my 12 week scan is this normal.. any time I go to my hospital I get the vibe they don’t deal with a lot of ivf babies I could be wrong but that’s the vibe I get off them

I think it varies with different areas but for me we saw the consultant after the 12 and 20 week scans then had further growth scans and also saw consultant after these.

It can depend on many things I’m older so that’s a reason, if you’ve a higher bmi, multiple losses, over 10 yrs gap between pregnancies, multiple children under 5 I think. Can be a mixture of things

Am only 25 and never been pregnant took me 3 and half years trying then fell pregnant with my first try of ivf, so am assuming it’s cause of the ivf suppose al find out in a couple of weeks

I agree with the others. I am under a specialist team in the hospital with a named midwife and consultant who I see every 4 weeks and get scanned every 4 weeks but I am older, IVF and multiple miscarriages.

I like being monitored closely and would probably panic if I only saw a midwife at scans on week 12 and 20!

As a midwife who works in an antenatal clinic I can confirm this is normal :) especially with covid it gives us a way to get everything done in one appt rather than you coming back a few weeks later. I work in quite a small hospital and I organise care for a lot of IVF patients - please don’t worry about the high risk label, it is likely the only time you will have to see the consultant unless you have other things going on too x

Yip I feel like I was at the hospital all the time! Not high risk only IVF but I got quite a few scans, saw the consultant quite a few time too.

I never got any special treatment because of IVF. Was told that I would be treated like any other normal pregnant lady. If you are offered extra appointment and scans then take it as it can be very nerve racking xx

Yes it’s awful. I didn’t relax the whole time but extra scans may if helped that x
