32 years old, PCOS, gastric bypass, lost 16 stone to concieve

32 year old 10 years PCOS diagnosed. Lost 16 stone after gastric bypass to help me concieve. I went from having no periods for years after tipping 30 stone on the scale. I am now much healthier and my periods are more or less very on point. I am still not having much luck with conceiving. Anyone else in the same or similar boat to me? I have been referred to the fertility clinic but due to covid it is unlikely I will be seen until April may next year. All my friends are having babies around me. I feel so deflated. All I want is to become a mum but every time I see the negative pregnancy test I struggle.

I hope and pray every day this miracle will happen.

Here! Same, I’m 32 and have Pcos. My periods are regular but I don’t ovulate often. I got pregnant a year ago but I had a miscarriage and I’m at a private IVF clinic now in London. I also do acupuncture and take chinese herbs, which helped me conceive before. I started Clomid this month which did not help with ovulation and I will have the second cycle when my period starts again. After my miscarriage 8 of my friends and family members got pregnant and gave birth to their first baby, it was devastating but now I feel hopeful again. You’ll see how many wonderful stories you’ll read on this forum and the support you’ll get from all the wonderful ladies on here. Welcome 💕

Hi, this is similar to me but I’m quite a bit older 39. I lost 15stone after bypass but never really had any problems with my periods. The thing that messed me up was due to malabsorption I went on depo when I first met my fiancé and reacted really badly. Even after only 2 shots it took me over a year to get my periods back by which time we were TTC.

Then though I was bleeding I wasn’t ovulating and no one knew why. My AMH was 22. I was too old for NHS IVF so after 2 years of TTC went private and am now 8+2 weeks pregnant with twins. Which I don’t mind because I’ll still weigh less than I did with all the weight and know my heart, lungs etc will be fine. Huge weight loss like ours really messes up the body but it can be done, have hope! xx

Thank you! If you’re in the Insta WLS world you’ll find me on lizzybee_rny but we’ve decided not to post anything about the pregnancy on social media until birth.

Wow, congratulations on working so hard and losing 16 stone! I think it'll be really helpful to be seen by the fertility clinic to get everything thoroughly checked out - an unfair problem of being overweight is that people tend to assume everything is to do with your weight whereas there might be other problems going on. I had to lose weight to be referred for IVF on the NHS (3 stone, nothing like what you've achieved) and for ages our focus was all about my weight, but in the end the fertility problem actually turned out to be to do with my husband and not with me at all - so however much weight I lost, we were still going to need IVF. I think you need more tests and information about what's going on - but do keep trying naturally, you never know! Fingers very firmly crossed for you xx

I just wanted to say a massive well done on getting the weight off, it cant have been easy going through all of that.....huge pat on the back! Im glad you have the ball rolling with the clinic and understand your frustration with everyone getting pregnant around you. Hang on in ther, you're already a fighter and winner with your achievement so far!! Wishing you all the best.xx
