Has anyone ever had or been recommended AOA? (assisted oocyte activation)
We have been recommended this for our upcoming cycle. (CYCLE NO.2)

Yes we had this on our last cycle that ended up with a BFP, waiting for our viability scan at the moment. But for the price of it I definitely would do it again, our fertilisation rate was better than any other round. Good luck xx
Hello I had it on my last cycle and had 100% fertilisation rate. Definitely do it! As my doctor explained - this is some sort of calcium they use anyway in the fertilisation process they just use more of it. I would highly recommend.
We used this in the last cycle we did and it hugely increased our fertilisation rate (all but one of our eggs fertilised). Sadly we haven’t had success yet but I think that’s due to other issues (including egg quality). For the relatively cheap price of AOA I’d definitely recommend it though. Do you know what reason they have recommended it for? x
Thank you for sharing your experience. We had 16 eggs collected 11 mature eggs & 5 fertilised. One was transferred day 5 but it didn’t implant, the other 4 by day 6 had either deteriorated or not developed further so they think that it will help development of the embryos as well as the initial fertilisation. The Dr thinks it’s a sperm defect rather than an egg issue as all was positive up until the final stage, the embryo transferred looked top quality. He said that if there are issues after day 3 then it’s usually sperm related and not egg related. My husband has some mobile sperm but below average x
This is like reading my story of my 3rd cycle 16 eggs, 10 mature, 8 fertilised and 1 blast. To be honest I never heard of AOA before 🤔 live to learn 😁but I think is always good to try something different, something new. Last cycle the 4th one was a success when I had no hopes, you can read my last week post if you want 😊
I wish you a very good luck 🤗
I’ve just seen the other comments to. Thank you, seems positive, we will be definitely going down this route with our next ICSI cycle which is coming up in a couple of weeks time. Congratulations to those who had success, if not like me, then let’s keep going x
Hi im late to the party but researching AOA and came across this thread, can any of you ladies recommend a clinic in the UK which does AOA? we are currently with GCRM in Scotland but they dont seem to offer it yet and my partner has just been diagnosed with Globozoospermia. Thanks
Hi there. On the cycle I used it. 6 eggs collected. 6 fertilised - 6 made it to day 5 (bad quality though but I am 40 so that explains the low output) but defo worth doing for £100 or so
