I would like to know if insomnia since embarking on IVF treatment in Brno has jeapordised my chances embryo transfer being sucessful. Could it directly cause me to not get a positive pregnancy test?
I started this round of IVF in UK. No hitches. (Sleep fine) Travelled to Brno, Czech Republic, for completion of treatment Egg retrieval was a great sucesss - 400% better than my first try and 16 eggs removed). By ET 6 embryos are of excellent developmental stage. Had one partially hatching blastocyst put back yesterday. My concern is that for the past 10 days, since arriving in Brno, I have only had about 2-3 hours of sleep each night. I think I can account for how it started - I have put it down to stress of travelling/change in daily routine/stress of co-ordinating IVF and perhaps, added stress of bickering with over anxious boyfriend and the general emotional and roller-coaster of IVF. But I am unsure if the lack of sleep has created a hormone imbalance and thwarted my chance of implantation and a positive test. (I have been pregnant twice, no implantation trouble, but always misscarried in first trimester due to what I presume is my egg quality being aged 42)
I could really do with some support. I will email my consultant here but having never emailed him before, Im not sure of a reply and whether language barrier will be an issue.
I think the damage may be done, and I feel sure that once I return to the UK in a couple of days I will be able to return to my usual sleeping pattern of 7-8 hours a night.
I'm desperately seeking support on this concern. I know that hormones play a crucial role in fertility and by not sleeping I believe I have caused an hormonal imbalace.
Please come to my rescue!

Good morning Hun. I was in a very similar situation to you a couple of years ago! I first went to my clinic in early January and became really focused on doing everything I could to improve my chances... Then insomnia hit! I would fall asleep for around 2 to 3 hours then be awake and get maybe another hour or 2 before it was time to get up. I let had a bug for 10 days in February so got even less sleep. I started my IVF early March then my sleep didn't improve as I was constantly worried about if I was doing the injections right, my age ( I was 41), the next IVF cycle as I was sure this one would fail etc. I still managed to get a BFP & have a 20 month old son now. Please don't worry too much about the insomnia... I'm sure we would feel better on 8 hours sleep a night but what can we do eh! Wishing you all the best. xx
Im very comforted by your reply: You had prolongued insomnia much worse than me and a bug. Must have been very exhausting for you. Im both sorry you went through it but delighted your cycle was successful, especially aged 41. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and for wishing me me well. X
Hey hun, no it wont impact implantation at all. In early pregnancy I had horrible insomnia, like rainbowbaby said i could only sleep 2-3 hours at a time, i was up all hours during the night so would just nap during the day or whenever I could! I am almost 23 weeks pregnant right now and thankfully the insomnia went away and I sleep almost normal now. So try not to worry. Best of luck for OTD 😘🤞💕
Niki_B you too have put my mind at rest with kind words. I wish you all the best for continued good sleep. I suppose the only 'good' reson for lack of sleep is due to having given birth to a little newborn baby. I hope everything goes well for you. And I really appreciate you replying. X
