Hi everyone! I'm new here... I just joined today. My husband and I were diagnosed with male factor infertility (low motility) about 2 years ago. But with busy lives, job transitions, and a delayed visa to move here to Scotland (we are Americans), we only recently got referred by our GP to a fertility specialist in January. And now, the long waiting period for an appointment begins as I'm hearing about how loooong it is taking for the NHS to get in touch, especially now with the delay caused by COVID-19.
I just wanted to express how happy I am that I found this group. I have isolated myself from any and all support since I found out about our infertility. I have not gotten myself to reach out to any friends because is seems like everyone has a million kids! I have felt so alone through this journey, and I'm realizing now how important it's going to be for me to find emotional support, and I think I can find it here.
I've been reading through posts on this page, and I am very encouraged by the positivity and encouragement! I hope I can chime in with encouraging news and updates!

Welcome to the group too. I too have found it hugely helpful and hope you will get the support you need, esp if you are understandably reluctant to reach out to friends and family.
It’s good that you have your referral already but obviously a delay due to the virus. I hope that you at least hear something back in the coming weeks as having a date (even far out) tends to help.
Everyone here is so helpful and will try and answer any questions along the way or just send hugs and good thoughts in those tough days in this journey xx
Hello Mojitoito :). Welcome to the group. Getting the news that you’ll have to go the IVF route can be disheartening but with the support of your partner, the ladies on here and the right emotional support, you’ll get through it. Feel free to contact me or anyone here along the way.
Hope you don’t mind me saying but if you’re not already, get your husband to take male fertility supplements and make use of the waiting time. Wild nutrition is a good quality brand and there’s often deals on it in planet organic (or their online store)
It is possible to improve sperm quality but it takes 90 days (same with eggs), diet and lifestyle changes can make a big impact for fertility. Good luck!
Thanks! Yes, I think we need to take advantage of this waiting period by changing our lifestyle and diet. We don't smoke, drink rarely, since the pandemic we've been exercising everyday... I suppose we need to up our diet - any diet suggestions? Noted on the supplement suggestions. I'm thinking about going to see a nutritionist - thoughts on that?
If you go to my profile and then to posts and replies I’ve replied to someone else with a long list of recommendations (based on the nutritionist and naturopathic doctors I’ve seen and books I’ve read etc...) I cant work out how to cut and paste it sorry !
Hi and welcome! Since having IVF I’ve been a lot more open with people about it. I was always a little closed and tense previously, probably to protect myself if it didn’t work. Anyway it feels like every second person I spoke to about it has had some fertility issues or other. It’s so much more common than you think. I wish I’d been a bit more open in the beginning. Lots of girls at work we’re going through similar things at the same time and we could have supported each other.
This group has been an endless source of support to me. The ladies on here are so kind, understanding and friendly! You can vent / share successes / ask questions on here with absolutely zero judgement (just understanding) 😁😘
Very best of luck on your journey. It can be tough at times but we’re all here to support you through the good and less good days!
