How to start looking for IVF clinics abroad?

Hi all

After a couple of failed ivfs and miscarriage I'm for some reason feeling abit more positive today after a very very long time so want to start looking for a clinic abroad and see if they can help.

My question is where do I start looking? Is there a particular website for ivf abroad or have those who have gone down this route done it via recommendations?

Thank you

I went with Instituto Bernabeu, they have about 6 clinics in Spain.. the clinics like a 5 star hotel! The staff are lovely and they let you watch them checking the embryo in the lab on a tv while you sat waiting for the transfer they explain everything! Good speaking English and you get a worker for your nationality!

I tried one clinic but I can’t remember the name, I seem to think I looked into one and they came to Manchester it was a day that you could speak to people from different clinics in the U.K. but also a couple abroad

Sorry I’m not much more help!

Thank you I appreciate it. I'll have a look at that. I just didn't have a clue where to start. I'll see if there are any open days in Manchester as I'm not that far so could possibly attend.

Thank you for taking time out to respond xx

Hi sofi, I’ve had a little look at this website as a start whereivf.com. It covers a lot of EU countries and seems quite thorough. It doesn’t go into specifics clinics though but does mention local regulatory bodies etc that you should check any clinic is registered to etc.

Hi Sofi, I also went to the Instituto Bernabeu. We had also considered the Crown in Cyprus (both recommended by my UK doctor) but plumped for the Bernabeu even though I think it was a bit more expensive. This is our second attempt at the Bernabeu -even though things didn’t work out the first time, we were 100 percent sure we were going back. Charmed is right about the clinics, ours was so modern, scanning technology in 3D etc (v different to my Uk experience) my doctor and liaison administrator were lovely. The most important thing is for you to find somewhere you are comfortable with, you’ll have to spend a few days in whatever place you choose. Sending love and best wishes to you x

Thank you that's great. Tbh I've not been impressed with the level of care here. The doctors have been very negative too

Yeah I’ve had same issue, I had a gynae appointment November last year who said they would refer me for egg donor, I rang loads of times on the following months all I get told is could be upto 2 years... and to this day a year later I still have not recieved my intitial appointment! I gave up a few months ago and in them few months I’ve been abroad had my first transfer and have some frozen!

I too was considering going abroad and met a team from Prague at the fertility show. I've generally heard success stories with them; pragueivf.com

In the end i stuck with Lister. Good luck with your search x

Hey Sofi! How are you? I hope you are feeling better. The clinic i opted for was also abroad. The staff is amazing there and the packages are also quite affordable. Although i had to travel a long way for it. But the treatment was worth it. I hope you also find a good clinic that fulfills your needs. But before opting for any clinic, do some research. There are a lot of good clinics abroad, but you need to talk to them before and see if that clinic is the one for you. Stay blessed. Good luck! Take care. Bye!

Hi Sofi! How are you? I am so sorry for your miscarriages. It's not an easy thing to deal with. But i am happy that even that is not able to stop you from trying again and again. To look for a clinic first of all you need to ask people around, there are a lot of people out here who have visited clinics abroad for treatment. There are two things that matter when you are looking for a clinic abroad, the success rate of the clinic you are opting for and the second thing how much will the treatment cost? If both things suit your budget then it is the one for you. Do tell us which clinic you opt for. If it's a good one, other people will benefit from it. Take care. Good luck! Stay blessed. Bye!

Thank you all. We have almost decided to have another try at a clinic in the UK. They seem to specialise in failed cycles and low AMH. I'm happy to share the details if anyone wants them...I think we aren't allowed to name on the forum but will do privately. We went to the open evening and the consultation was positive x

Hey Sofi! I hope you are doing fine. First of all, i am really sorry for your failed attempts. It takes a lot of confidence to stand tall after that much struggle. So you are going to motivate a lot of people by your story. It's a good thing that you are thinking about clinics abroad. I also had my treatment abroad, the clinic was very affordable and the treatment was just amazing. I even saved a lot of money by opting there. Stay strong like this and everything will work out for you. I hope it helps you as well. Good luck! Stay blessed. Take care. Bye!

Thank you. There have been so many times I've cried and broken down asking 'why me'! To be a mother is the only thing I'vereally wanted and not to be a mum is hard.

I'm going to work hard and save so at least I know I did what I could to have a child and the rest is up to destiny I suppose.

Thank you for your kind words and I wish you all the best in your journey x
