Farm visit

I'm a teacher and I booked ages ago to take my class on a school trip on Tuesday to a little animal park with farm animals. Had completely forgotten about it until I checked my diary today. Don't think I should go, surely it's not safe to be around livestock in early pregnancy. What does everyone think?

Hi, it is safe to be around animals, but it is animals that are giving birth or have just given birth that you need to be cautious of and avoid. You could call the farm and check what they say and what they have going on as lambing season will be over with sheep, but they may have other animals you should be aware of. I love a trip to a farm, I used to do that with the Reception children at our school 😃

Part of the day is the kids feeding lambs so maybe it's best to give it a miss then. I'm just so cautious of something going wrong. I'll be disappointed to miss it though, they will love it! Thanks so much got your reply! x

I wouldn’t if it’s around sheep, you’ve worked so hard to get this far it’s not worth taking the risk, I’m a teacher also and had a farm visit booked after one of my 2ww it was negative so I didn’t have to worry but if it was positive I defo wouldn’t have gone xx

That's what I'm thinking, just not worth the risks. Will have parents very upset with me for not going but I'm just not willing to risk it. Will get another teacher to class swap for the day x

I had to miss trip last week with an extra scan due to lining not playing ball, luckily one of the teachers is a good friend and knows what’s going on so she swapped with me so my class could still go. We put our school first so often and I have had to learn (and still am learning) that with this it’s time to put me first xx

I've got a close friend at school who will swap with me and my head is very supportive so I'm sure it'll be fine. How are you getting on? Had your transfer? x

That’s good. Had my transfer on Monday day on day 6 now, worked out well with half term but back to reality tomorrow 😂 hoping it’ll keep me distracted though xx

Thank you, I’ve not really had any symptoms, sore breasts but they were like it before so must be the meds. On the last 2 times I was spotting by day 5 and haven’t had that this time although on lubion also so could just be that. Trying hard to be positive though 🤞🤞🤞 xx

I don't think being around the animals is going to be harmful but if you are stressing about it and thinking about then yes I would swap x

Hiya, we went to a farm recently in lambing season and it said that it wasn't suitable for pregnant ladies and advised against not entering xx

I don't know exactly why but I was told to avoid sheep during pregnancy. So I think if you can get out of it do. I mean even if there's no real risk, you don't want to look back and have regrets or feel like you are to blame.

My midwife told me not to go near farms during lambing season as they carry chlamydia. Shame to miss it but better to be safe than sorry. 😘

There was a sign up at a farm park that I was at recently warning pregnant women to keep their distance from the new lambs, Id give it a miss xxx
