Cd 18 now scan not showing anything

Hi all! Looking for some advice and hopefully reassurance. So I am on my second cycle of clomid (first did nothing) this time on 100mg. (I have PCOS I should add) on CD 10 I had one follicle showing at 11.3mm.... today CD 18 my scan showed nothing.... the fertility nurse (who scanned me......usually scanned in ultrasound) said either I have already ovulated or the follicle has disappeared. Saturday/Sunday/Monday I had like cramping ovary pain, almost like period pain, mainly on the side were the follicle was but some on other side too.

What is the likelihood this follicle has disappeared compared to me ovulating? I am also using clear blue advanced ovulation tests since CD13 and had low that day but cd14 onwards has been high.

Trying hard to stay positive but struggling, she mentioned next steps would be ovarian drilling then ivf... I have already lost 16kg to be able to start the clomid and for ivf I would need to lose about another 24kg which feels impossible! I have fibromyalgia so pain makes exercise difficult it took me a year and a half to lose 16kg and I’m 29 this year so not getting any younger.... :-(

Hi there, there are plenty more steps the clinic can do to help you ovulate so don’t get discouraged. You’ve done amazingly well to loose 16kg, thats a lot of work. You can carry on and loose more weight, you’ve got this. You are still young, plenty of women conceive much older than you so don’t focus on your age. Stay healthy, try talking to the clinic, sounds as if you just need a bit of reassurance and a big hug 🌸

Thank you :-) it’s all a bit scary because the only thing I want is to be a mum I have no career path that I want as being a mum is more important to me! We can’t afford any private routes so need the nhs to help so badly but just not feeling very confident with the nurses I keep seeing.... I feel I only get information if I ask for it and they don’t really explain next steps etc very well. Thank you for taking the time to reply, I think your right about the reassurance being what I need. Iv really struggled mentally the last 24hours with not knowing how to feel and just feeling a bit of a failure really xxx

Try not to worry. I know easier said than done! The only problem you have with being monitored is that it isn’t always accurate because your body does what it wants and releases eggs when it wants so can easily be missed! They’d told me my 4th cycle hadn’t worked and did my progesterone bloods and said I deffo hadn’t ovulated... I ended up being pregnant! Was a complete shock but they had totally missed my ovulation window! They’d mentioned IVF and the next step to me too at that point as I only had 2 clomid cycles left so just keep doing what you are doing. It’s not easy but you will get there ✨✨xx

This is what concerned me she was very much like I think you have ovulated but I’m not sure.... she was like I can’t see anything.... now the person who did my last ultrasound (proper person from ultrasound department)said the follicle would have raggedy edges if an egg had released. Now I’m not convinced the nurse is used to doing these scans as she was squinting at the screen looking baffled and took ages looking! Thank you for taking the time to reply! I’m really grateful to everyone on here to hear there stories and know I am not alone in this! Xx

When I got monitored my consultant was the only one who would scan because he knew what he was looking for! And exactly if you have released an egg the nurse might not know exactly what to look for after.

No problem, we are all here to help but you deffo aren’t alone, I had no hope on clomid because the clinic were very much like oh no it hasn’t worked, oh yeah it’s worked this month. I was convinced I’d need IVF! Then we got lucky in cycle 4! The clinic even told me to start taking my provera to bring on my period as I hadn’t ovulated! They said I should test first but it’s highly unlikely I’d be pregnant.... and I was! Also I found each cycle I ovulated at different times so you may do the same and that’s harder for them to track but don’t get discouraged! Xx

That’s the thing that bugs me I have never actually seen a consultant in the year and a half I have been under the clinic! It’s a good thing you tested! Just shows how unpredictable this journey can be! Xx
