*sensitive post update with picture* Anyone else with an auto immune disease been told they will be induced before due date?

Hi everyone! Hope you're all okay wherever you're at in your journey. I'm currently 13 plus 6 with little dot and just had our official 2nd scan with everything looking good. I'm under specialist consultants due to my Lupus and we spent all most of Friday in hospital having scans, bloods and other tests done and speaking to consultants, doctors and the midwife. We've now been told that despite our official due date being 2nd April I will induced at 38 weeks because of various factors to do with my lupus and I was wondering if anyone else was in the same situation? Included a pic of little dot who was very stubborn to roll over for the sonographer and seemed preoccupied with staring at their toes.

Awww what an amazing scan picture. I am sorry I can't shed any light on your query but thank you so much for sharing. Most ivf pregnancies seem to have more monitoring than others I believe. My friend who was having ivf twins was told c-section early but she insisted otherwise and they went on and on. In the end, despite going into labour herself, they did have to c-section. But I guess what I am saying is that perhaps they have told you this in order that you are mentally prepared for an early arrival, but they will monitor and advise as time progresses x

Can't comment on lupus I'm afraid. However, I'm 13+3 and was told by my obstetrician a few weeks ago that they are likely to induce me once the baby has reached term ie. around 38 weeks. He said they tend to do this for IVF babies and also because I'll be 43 when I give birth.

He said that survival drops off again after 40 weeks so they wouldn't want to risk anything.

I’ve also been told I’ll been induced early but at 39 wks because of my chron’s disease & lymphoma. My gynae consultant said if I have a flare up I’ll have to go on steroids & leave work (I work at the hospital so too risky to catch germs while immune system compromised), I had a letter from my gastro consultant who was reluctant for them to prescribe them without seeing her first. Not had an appointment with her but due in a couple of months. Due to see my haematologist next month. I’m 20wks by the way. X

I am type 1 diabetic which is also autoimmune. It is standard practice to induce a type 1 at 37/38 weeks as there is a higher risk if still birth as the placenta ages faster in mums with autoimmune diseases. Hope this helps x

I don’t have lupus. I had twins and was told they would induce at 37 weeks. They ended up inducing at 35 weeks because of pre enclampsia and all work well. Twins are turning 12 weeks on the second.

I am a type 1 diabetic so auto immune disease as well I was due to be induced at 37 weeks but didn’t make it that far got to 35+ 3 with c section as my consultant believed my placenta was starting to fail wishing all the best with your pregnancy the NHS are amazing and you will be in great hands x x x

I have lupus sle. My little girl is now 16 months old but when I was pregnant I was also told they’d induce me early. It’s very normal I believe. Good luck with your pregnancy x

Hi. I think it's quite common if you have any condition which makes you higher risk. I'm not pregnant yet but have already been told I won't be allowed to go to term.

Thank you all. It makes sense why they would induce me early- I just wasn't quite prepared for it. I knew our pregnancy was complicated just not by how much. As long as baby is healthy that is all that matters. Inhofe those of you out there waiting get your time sooner rather than later xx
