Sorry- this is probably a daft question but so far in this pregnancy my poor little dot has endured me having a sickness bug and now a really bad head cold- so much so I got sent home from work. Could this affect the baby? Baby dust to everyone one going through this tough journey xx

Can head cold affect unborn baby?
So sorry your feeling so rough hun it's awful being under the weather. I don't believe head cold could affect bubz just be careful with what you take to help you get through it. Babies are very well protected in their and I remember being so worried because I was sick all the time and couldn't eat anything apart from ice pops. My miscarriage consultant referred to babies as parasites and said you'd be surprised what doesn't affect them. They'll just keep zapping all the goodness from you. Which I felt with my gums getting ulcers all over. Just try to eat well take your vitamins and rest up.
Hope you get well soon

Hi CC2018. No, baby is protected by the placenta, so no worries. He/she will look after itself first, then you get any leftover goodness. Hurry up and get better. Paracetamol is fine to take, but no anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen. Thinking of you. Diane
Thank you Diane- I'm not worried about me, I don't think I help myself having lupus and working in a school- germs everywhere! As long as baby is okay i'm happy. Trying not to take anything just because I'm on so much already for the pregnancy. I've been asked to continue clexane, aspirin and my pessaries by my midwife until I have my first consultation with the rheumatologist pregnancy team at the hospital. Thanks again for your advice xx
