I’ve been told to wait for a natural surge on ovulation tests before taking trigger shot. Do you think the test in the photo is positive or is second line down not quite dark enough? Not sure whether to take trigger today or wait until tomorrow when I’m guessing it’ll be a more obvious positive on that day’s test? But don’t want to be too late in taking trigger! Isn’t this whole thing a minefield?!
Thanks for any thoughts! X

Take another test at 2-4ish today and see what you get. I tried those exact strips to track ovulation (prior to IVF though), some months I got the same darkness as the control, some looked exactly like the picture you put up. I found them very sensitive to urine concentration and time of day and given HSG is supposed to peak early afternoon you might be best off testing then. Good luck! I don’t envy you having the make the call, I just used them as a guide and tracked a couple of days after so I could tell when I had retrospectively so there was no pressure x
Thanks so much, retesting is a great idea. Annoyingly in previous cycles I’d been using my Clearblue monitor which is much easier to read but stopped when the clinic started telling me exactly when to take trigger as obviously that affected reading anyway! Then they have given different advice this time in terms of looking for natural surge before trigger. These strips are so hard to read!
Thanks so much for your advice, will retest later x
I never tried the clearblue, I was put off by the price (I guess if I’d only done 1-3 months that would have been fine but I tested for quite a few!) but yes, the strips are a nightmare. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! x
I have spent god knows how much on that monitor which is why I was happy to stop using it once they told me when to take trigger shots! You would’ve thought in this day and age they’d design an easier to read ovulation test strip... Anyway, love your username by the way, I could be Lovefood1982 😂 How are things going for you? X
Currently 29+3 weeks pregnant from our first round of ICSI so I feel really blessed after seeing how much harder again it can be for others. Baby definitely isn’t a lovefood kinda person as I’ve been off food since day 1 and still on anti nausea pills, maybe it’s not mine 😉😂 Always struggle to come up with a good username when signing up for sites actually and it’s jut what popped into my mind at the time 🤔 Wishing you the best of luck for this cycle x
Congratulations, that’s really lovely 😀 Bad news about the anti-nausea pills though... but it’ll all be worth it! Thanks for your advice, clearer line at 4pm so have taken the trigger shot. Here’s hoping this is our month and we don’t have to go to do ivf but we’ll wait and see! X
