So I’m still looking into ivf but got no further really. It’s all very daunting and scary. I read the emotional stories and sometimes don’t think I’m strong enough. Anyway I’m not sure wether to pay per cycle or go for the multi payment plan we’re you can keep going and if no baby you get your money back. But I feel I need to have a cut off point and decide that enoughs enough if it doesn’t work. As I think it can destroy what you have now and you can wind up with nothing. Opinions would be helpful.
Ivf pay per cycle or the multi cycle ... - Fertility Network UK
Ivf pay per cycle or the multi cycle option.
It's such a tough choice, and is a game of percentages. Most people are given a percentage chance of success for a cycle of under 50%, therefore the liklihood is that most people will need more than one cycle. I read somewhere that the average is 3 cycles, although not sure of the source of that info. I took 4 cycles (2 NHS and 2 self funded), and hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I do wish I'd gone for the multi payment plan. If it only took one cycle then you are very lucky and feel blessed, and I don't think I would have regretted the loss of money. If it takes more than one then you have that financial security knowing it's already been paid for, and as you say you also have an end point so it doesn't consume your life. And money back for a holiday in the unfortunate case of no success. Would be interested to hear other people's opinions as I didn't look into the details thoroughly x
Hey there. Don't stress out. I know the situation is difficult. And you are confused. But relax. Everything will be well. IVF is 40 percent successful. But is the best. Keep hope and go for it. I am pretty sure you will get success. You can discuss it with an expert. They can tell the best. Waiting for the updates. Good luck. May God bless us all.
Hi Emma we went for multi cycle on access fertility. While it was more expensive you get the peace of mind that if it doesn't work then you have options rather than just losing loads of money. Your clinic should be able to advise you which programme they use/recommend. We had our first cycle free on NHS which was successful but sadly we lost the baby. Our second round was a success and now 26 weeks pregnant with twins. There are so many options and I wouldn't rule out the possibility of going abroad, but please disregard any comments offering you advice on treatment in the Ukraine, they are just advertising. Research everything and check which is best for you. Good luck xx
We had our first cycle which resulted in a BFN. We then purchased the 3 cycle refund programme from Access Fertility and had 2 rounds which we didn't even get to transfer with.
We were then told that we should consider using donor eggs which we got our heads round eventually. However, we still had 1 cycle to do on the refund programme and had to complete it to get the refund in order to pay for the donor cycle in Spain.
I am now 10 weeks pregnant on that final round!!!
At first when my OH suggested buying the refund programme I thought he was being negative as I was convinced our 2nd cycle was going to work!!!
However, I am now really glad we did this!! x
I paid for the 2 cycles with access fertility but sadly neither cycles worked for us. As a couple we have had so many hurdles in the way. Partner has Azoospermia and I have low egg reserve now im 40. We are now going for a tandem donor cycle in Cyprus. I would definitely recommend a multi cycle as not many couples get lucky on their first go. Xx
