Just an update on our journey 😊 Our specialist recommended that with having such a low sperm count that my boyf should have a sample frozen just to be on the safe side in case it got any worse, so off he went today to do it in a cup again, bless him.
I’ve been totally curious about this since he had to do it the first time and made him describe everything in detail from what the room looked like, to the kind of ‘material’ available, to what size the pot was. Luckily he’s used to my incessant questioning and love of detail (he’s the same) so he was only too happy to share.
This morning we wondered if this time would be different (we went private for the reversal but the sample was taken at an NHS hospital, today it was at the private clinic we’re having the treatment at). Would the material be classier? Would the room have a bed with satin sheets? Maybe a beautiful young nurse would come in and ‘help him out’?!
None of this turned out to be the case but he definitely delivered on the detail! Not only did he give me a minute by minute account (I don’t half love him!) but he’d taken pictures (don’t worry, not of the deed itself) but of the magazines (various women with their minnies out), the TV screen (various women with their minnies out) and the beautifully laid out table (remote control, sample pot and tissues). We had a right good laugh about it and looked at the pictures several times. I obviously had to zoom in on them and comment on the shape/size/grooming of each minnie, he’d lost interest at this point and was more focused on eating his dinner, it must be hungry work all this jizzing.
So anyway, all in all a successful visit to the clinic and they’ll phone us with the results next week. I know what we’re all going through can seem like absolute shit sometimes but if you can find something to laugh at do it, it’s got to be good for you eh?! Now we’re going to settle down for a night of Netflix and decaf tea, it is Friday after all and we’re sooooo rock and roll!
Hope you’re all well, big love 😊 xxx

My husband said all he had was a couple of Nuts type of magazine! I think he was disappointed, his green light to look at other women and the material was rubbish. He said he didn't even bother looking at it 🤣 We had a good laugh at him having to do a sample, the only really funny thing about this process.
I love this post, thanks for lightening the mood of what can be a really testing journey. Feel I need to ask my hubby now about his time in the room with red light!! (Yes our clinic really have a red light when the room is in use, no Roxanne though that I know of!) x
Haha - all my husband would tell me about his room was it had a chair, a toilet and a sink!!! No tv but an array of magazines - even magazines for men who liked men!!! x
Yeah, my boyfriend mentioned the men who like men magazines last time he went?! I concluded they must be for men who are just there to donate or maybe a gay couple using a surrogate? 😊 x
Hehe! Aww, I’d have shared them but we thought deleting them from his phone was the best option! 😂 x
Haha love it! Funnily enough it was only tonight that my hubby was talking about his sperm test experience again. He wasn't able to work the tv and dvds provided so he got his mobile out instead!!😂
This really made me laugh...it’s all the questions I asked.
I agree, it’s a tough journey, but there have been things along that way that you just have to have a giggle at.
The one my husband went to, if you wanted to use their room to produce your sample you had to ask for the key at reception then go to another part of the hospital. The room was just a toilet at outpatients reception. 😳😳😳
Why they don’t have a specified toilet in their own clinic area I don’t know. Glad it’s not me having to do it. 😈
Thanks for the giggle 😆 Your post made me think of the first time we did iui and hubby "cleaned himself up" with the disinfectant cleaning wipes instead of the baby wipes!! He said he thought it was somewhat tingly and the nurse joked that he probably now had the willy of a 3-year old!! 😂🤣😂
I love this post! So important to try and see the lighter side of what can be a tortuous journey! My hubby said he just had a couple of magazines which he didn’t even bother using! Did the private clinic have any perks over the NHS one or was it just the same? Hope the results come back improved x
Aww, thank you! Yep, if you don’t laugh you’ll cry 😊 I think with private we’ll just get the results back quicker than NHS? Thank you, good luck on your journey too 😘 x
Haha that's really funny, my hospital doesn't the facilities so my husband did his at home and you had to get it to the hospital ASAP - think he found it less awkward that way though he did tell me he'd do it in front of someone if he had do, he's so desperate for us to conceive 😂 lucky that's not how it works as i don't think anyone wants to see that!
Haha such a great post 😂 my husband was so disappointed at our private clinic, he didn't touch the magazines as these were stuck together- ewww, he said the chair in the room and the walls had splatter stains - even more ewwww he was pleasantly surprised at our nhs clinic, he said it was much better and the magazines weren't stuck and they were all fresh and new and the room was clean and stain free. Things can get better. Oh I also like to put him On the spot and ask when he's doing the deed is he thinking of me! 😂 Well he does like to call the thingy that does the internal vaginal scans a dildo
Oh gosh! How awful! Haha! I asked my boyfriend exactly the same question about if he thought of me and we call the scan thing a dildo too! Great minds eh?! 😂 x
My other half calls the monitor during the scan "Google maps: fanny edition"......we'd been left in the room for about 5 minutes (- me in position!!!) and it totally made me laugh and lightened the mood....
