First scan, sp

Hello,

I started stimulation on Friday on the short protocol and had my first scan today. I was just wondering how many follicles people tend to have /average amount for first scan? My nurse said I had 5 on one side and 6 on the other. My only concern is that someone else I know Who is currently going through IVF.. during egg collection had 30+.. is mine really low? Hers really high? A combo of the 2? Or do loads more produce in the later days of stim? She did go on long protocol so don't know if that makes a difference also?

Thanks so much for any help or advice anyone can offer 😃

My clinic told me they aim for between 10 and 15 eggs to be collected. Any more and OHSS is a concern. 30+ is unusual and I suspect very painful too! I have low ovarian reserve so never had more than 7 good size follicles and 6 eggs collected - tried both long and short protocols. In my experience they saw most of the developing ones on the first scan and I didn't get any more on later scans, but this might not be the case for everyone x

Ahh that's really good to know. Thank you. She did have OHSS so I suppose that would make sense. Thanks again x
