We did. Waiting lists in Wales are appalling and they haven’t even put me and my OH on the IVF waiting list just the Gynae waiting list. We know we need IVF because of the tests we’ve had.
It’s a heartbreaking situation Hun. It’s an awful lot of money and I know that if it works I’ll never think about it, if it doesn’t I will be reminded every month the money leaves my account to pay for the private clinic.
Good luck and baby dust to you xxx
At least a year where we are, that’s just for the Gynae appointment, no idea how long we would wait to be seen for IVF. Where we are in Wales is known for long waiting lists. Hope you are seen quicker, I have a low AMH so we were told time is not on our side and we are still on the NHS waiting list but didn’t feel we could wait. Hope this round of IVF works (fingers crossed for Friday!) if not we will have to wait for our turn with the NHS. Xx
Keeping fingers crossed for you. Did you have the AMH test done privately? My gnae said they don’t do it on the Nhs? Xx
Thanks 😊.
Yes we paid for it in our private clinic, NHS won’t do it which seems so silly. Even if we have our NHS cycle we would still have to pay for he AMH test. It’s worth going to a private clinic open evening. We had a chance to speak to the consultant and embryologist for free and a free SA. We then paid £80 for the AMH and that’s when we decided to go for a private cycle while waiting for NHS.
They are really open and honest in the private clinic, you can have 1 private cycle and still be eligible for your 2 free NHS cycles but if you have 2 private then only 1 NHS etc. Might be worth going to a open evening if you have a private clinic that’s close to you.
Hi. Me and my OH we’re referred in August last year and had our first consultation in Feb this year - much quicker than I thought. Because of our situation we have had a few different appointments between then and now (usually about three weeks between appointments) We are getting closer to the end goal of starting ivf now - we hope to start by the summer. My experience of Wales nhs waiting list hasn’t been bad at all! Good luck!
It might depend on what the issues are and whether you know. If you haven’t already had tests, perhaps it’s worth going for a private fertility assessment to try to get some answers. Wishing you luck xxx
