Having suffered infertility and recurrent miscarriages, in my opinion, this would be an absolute Godsend if it happened. Sitting in the Women’s health department is traumatic to say the least!! By signing this you could help end some of that pain. I have lost count of the times I’ve sat sobbing in waiting rooms and corridors surrounded by the one thing I want more than anything in the world. PLEASE PLEASE sign and share xx

Thanks for posting this. Have added my signature! I know from experience how cruel it is to be in a painfully inappropriate environment when suffering from a loss. Action needs to be taken to avoid the terrible and unbelievably cruel surroundings that poor women are made be part of when undergoing a loss/fertility issues.

Thank you for posting this. I've signed it & will send the link to friends this evening. Something really needs to be done about the lack of compassion shown to women suffering infertility/ pregnancy loss. Last time I was admitted to hospital with heavy bleeding after being told my baby had no heartbeat I was placed on a ward full of pregnant women. I was lucky to be in a side room but heard another patient in the corridor on her phone saying she would abort her baby if what she had read on Facebook about the father was true! It's shocking women suffering from miscarriages are put through even more torture. I hope this gets to parliament xx

Less than twenty years ago, it was common practice for all women having a D+C to be put on the same ward no matter why- so women recovering from a miscarriage were in the same room as women who had had a D+C as an elective abortion. This has changed (as far as I know, there are certainly guidelines about it) and I think that the practice of treating infertility/miscarriage in the same space as maternity should be changed too. If we speak up, hopefully we will be heard!

Thank you for posting this. I feel like this every time I have had to go to our local women’s health ward, and especially when we were finding out that we had miscarried. It broke my heart into even more pieces.

Signed and wish I could sign it so many more times so something is done.

Xx

Well done for posting. Signed. Couldn’t agree more with what you’ve said ❤️❤️❤️ xoxo

Just signed. This is really something that should be looked at. I get the facilty and money thing but it's not hard to separate ladies in another waiting room 💖😘

in reply to AllWeNeedIsluv

I brought this issue with my local EPU; they now have separate rooms. I hope it makes a difference to another lady in that dreadful situation. You’re right it isn’t that difficult to do; for the mental wellbeing of that woman suffering a loss or infertility it has to be done. Luckily our clinic is away from maternity department; I am so grateful for that; our last one used to hold antenatal sessions truly awful when the infertility clinic only had outpatient appointments once a week 🙄

It baffles me how so many women can work on the ward and they are all caring naturally you need to be to work in that profession and they don't speak up for us when they see so many women in that dreadful situation. I remember when you spoke up glad they took it on board. Something so simple shouldnt take all this effort, really us women do get the short straw. 💖😘

Have signed and shared on Facebook.first time I’ve ever publicly admitted that I was one of those who had to sit among happy pregnant women while I bled and lost my hope 😢

Not quite the same but my old fertility clinic was attached to the maternity wing which I had to walk through to get my bloods done. I also saw pregnant women smoking outside the clinic. Talk about poorly designed! Xx

Thanks for sharing!! Definitely agree with this as someone who has suffered three recurrent miscarriages having to attend EPU with glowing pregnant women all around me xxx

Oh absolutely! If I ever won the lottery I would buy a separate ultrasound for our EPU and pay for a full time nurse.

Lizzielizzielizzie profile image

Makes me realise how lucky we are in our hospital to have an ultrasound upstairs with a separate waiting area for EPAU. Still have to walk through baby stuff but they’ve done their best. Apparently they’re now working on separating the infertility waiting area from the main ultrasound waiting area, I wish they’d hurry up. I was in mental agony sitting there so many times. They used to even play this hideous “baby tv”.

Will definitely sign this. When I was going through my ectopic pregnancy. There was a last in the same waiting room who was having her child taken off her for being on methodone. Last thing I needed was to be anywhere near her.

Signed this is a very good idea. More thought should be put to any situation that can help anyone who are going through a difficult and very sad time. My Daughter and Son in Law were put in such situations, and my heart ached for them.

I've signed! xx thank you for sharing. As I've posted before the last time I attended for scans, I was asked by someone else also waiting, "is this your first scan". At my local hospital, the infertility clinic is the early pregnancy unit other days of the week and is right next to the maternity ward.

Could not agree more have signed and shared on my FB. Hope you’re doing ok x

I have had some experiences with the insensitive way the nhs handles things after I had a pulmonary embolism in December and their letters for the hospital clinics are insensitive as in no way do they explain on the letter what the thing is for or what they will be doing as explanations help to reduce fears when you aren't told what's going to happen and why it causes unnecessary anxiety and fear and lots of people don't attend their appointments because they are terrified!

Signed. So true and feels like another kick in the teeth when you pass all the pregnant bellies on the way to an appointment x

I’ve signed- my poor friend last month suffering a miscarriage met friends in the ultrasound dept- they obviously assumed she was there for the same happy reason she was, and it made a really bad day so much worse for her. 😭
