Have you had a laparoscopy to rule out / diagnosis and treat endometriosis? Also have you had a hysteroscopy to check for/treat polyps/ fibroids? Both these can cause heavy periods with huge blood clots.
I really think you should tell your clinic- I think it needs to be investigated- really painful/ heavy periods are not normal and are not “ just part of being a women”.
I have issues with my cycles- if took a long time to be diagnosed with endometriosis- since my miscarriage my periods are horrendous so much so I’m having surgery tomorrow- if I hadn’t have written to my fertility doctor that wouldn’t be happening.
Very important point- have you had your iron checked? You are at risk of becoming anaemic with heavy periods. My iron got checked and was so low I’m on 3 ferrous sulphate a day.
Anyway I hope you get to the bottom of it and here if you fancy a chat xoxo
Hello Erica, I suffered like you for years. I’d bleed for so many days with so many big clots that I lost so much confidence and hope for a baby. So many different reasons were given. Overweight, cysts... the only thing that cured it for a while was having the coil fitted while I lost weight. Then I had two months of bliss. Turns out that didn’t cure me. I eventually told my Dr to put me on the pill. I couldn’t live like this so I’d give up wanting a baby. She referred me to the fertility clinic. Finally. I had tests and all wasn’t well. I must stress that so many women on here have shared similar issues to mine and had different reasons for it. Some are easier to clear up. Definitely get some tests and scans done as Jess said. And always come here to chat. x
I really think you should see your GP! Everyone has different cycles and if this is normal for you then it's a bit more reassuring however not everyone has heavy bleeding & clots like this and I think at this level it needs looking into! Hope you're ok xxx
DianeArnold can you perhaps point in the right direction!xx
I am exactly the same always have been. My periods are extremely painful. Numerous amount of stitches where I have hurt myself while passing out. I am not a heavy flow kind of girl my period is short and light and I still pass clots like this on a regular basis. The odd month that I have a a heavy flow the clots are unreal. I have had a laprascopy and they reckon eveything is fine. Although I beg to differ. Don't let them fob you off lovely. I hope you have more luck getting to the bottom of it than I do. Xx
Oh, dear, those are some huge clots. But don't' worry, I'm sure you'll get a solution here. Have you been to a doctor? I have endometriosis. I think your description reminds me of my earlier days with endo until I got treatment. I'm still getting treatment though. Anyhow, does anyone in your family have endo? Having a history of such problems usually increases the chances. Do you have painful periods? You did mention heavy flow. Do you have pain during sex? And assuming that you're married, have you had a baby? If you have difficulty TTC, then I'm afraid these all point to endo. But, by no means are we professionals here. Only a proper medical exam can tell you if there's something to worry about. I don't think you should be stressed if clots are the only symptom you have.
