I was put on metformin a couple of years ago to help with my PCOS and regulate my periods. I take 1 500mg tablet a day and I’m just thinking about stopping it altogether and seeing what happens. Does anyone have any advice on this please, should I or shouldn’t I??

Thinking about coming off metformin...
I would consultant your doctor before just stopping it as it’s used to help regulate your insulin with PCOS. Why do you want to stop it? X
I’ve been on metformin for a couple of years now when I finally convinced my GP. My fertility consultant advised I stay on it through fertility treatment and through the whole of my pregnancy x
Hey there bella_12! you did not mention whether metformin was working or not. Also, I don't believe you should stop its medication. be careful with it I mean try to regularly check your insulin levels and take around 500 mg for 2 days. If your insulin levels are still stable start to increase the time interval and start using some natural remedies to maintain insulin levels.Do respond to how your body has so far responded to metformin.
Hi
I was told I had pcos and I was put on metaformin it did regulated my cycle but after two years I stoped it and i tried to go back but the side effect made me feel sick

Thanks for your reply’s. I would say it’s helped with my cycles, they are very regular now and I don’t have the pcos symptoms I use to have like acne and greasy skin. But I don’t know I just thought I’ve been on it about 2 years, nothings happened yet re pregnancy so do I just come off and have a complete break? Are there any side effects of taking metformin long term?
