NK Testing yes or no?

So what’s people’s thoughts on Natural Killer testing? I’m contemplating the testing through Coventry Hospital but wondering if it’s worth spending the money as privately funded!

There is some really good info on this on the panorama program about private IVF clinics, you can get it on YouTube.

Hi kazza, I’m thinking of going too. Not sure what to believe about it. We have been ttc for over 2 years with no joy but also no answers from the tests, Dh - fine, tubes -fine, ovulating - fine ....so naturally I’m looking for answers to what is wrong! It was my acupuncturist who recommended it but I’m just quite confused by all the conflicting information x

Indeed I feel the same so much info that it’s confusing, certainly don’t want to waste time and money if there’s little point but also want to give my 1 frozen embryo the best chance.

I’ve had one failed iui followed by a failed ivf cycle last year which left me with the 1 frozen. It was ok to freeze but on the slow side. I also had a miscarriage back in 2010.

I am single so haven’t been in a position to ttc so as such may not have any fertility problems, I might have just been unlucky so far.

Hello. I've had it done at Coventry with Dr Brosens who was lovely. I didn't have a high level of NK cells so didn't need treatment however if I had the treatment would have been steroids. My consultant decided to prescribe these for me anyway as part of treatment for rec mc. I think some clinics routinely prescribe after egg transfer.

Heya. Im sure the panorama doc was on natural killer cell testing using blood from the arm whereas at Coventry they take biopsies from your uterus. I had it done after 2 failed cycles and 2 misscarrages and my results came back normal on both biopsies (they do two to ensure a clear picture) I'd say it's definately worthit for piece of mind. Before our 5th cycle we had every test I know of to ensure we wouldn't have any wonders...its expensive and takes time so delays the next attempt but definately worthit to not wonder 'what if' Hope this helps xx
