Hi I didn’t get it but I don’t have bad PCOS. I also didn’t have very many follicles (3 or 4 can’t remember) and got 7 eggs so I didn’t change anything. Just made sure I kept hydrated x
I was told about it but I have tried not to worry about it because the more I worry the more chance it will happen. Just stay as relaxed as you can. My consultant told me to have high protein low card diet so maybe try a diet like that I haven't had it but then I haven't started stimms yet. If you have read about those foods helping then give them a try, it will settle your mind xxx
Hey, I have PCOS and didn’t get it the first time and only had it mildly the 2nd. My clinic monitored me closely during stimulation and I drank tons of water xx
Hi there, I have PCO and as a result I was put on a low dose of stims, which they had to increase as whilst I had lots of follicles they weren’t getting big enough. They emptied 19 at collection and we ended up with 1 transferred and 2 in the freezer (all day 5 blasts) however the bloating & discomfort (it wasn’t a sharp pain or anything to worry about) during the weeks after was discomforting - I just assumed it was the progesterone pessaries.
At my 7 week scan they found that I had 2 monster follicles (one in each ovary) which had filled back up with fluid after collection and each one was 6.5cm (about the size of a satsuma) so I just had to take it easy, eat salty crackers and not do any strenuous exercise in the hope that they go back to normal (which should be by the end of the first trimester).
It’s not painful, the clinic didn’t seem overly concerned and just told me to go straight to A&E if I felt any severe pains (which I’ve not, I just feel uncomfortably full and I’ve got a really bad back when I lie down).
If you are a high risk some clinics will give you some drugs after collection to help reduce the risk but I didn’t. It’s no worse a feeling than the couple of days before egg collection so please try not to worry - the clinics know how dangerous it can be and will take all necessary precautions.
I also have a mild version of PCOS and didn’t get it. My clinic put me on short protocol as apparently it helps avoid the risk of overstimulation. I was also started on the lowest dose of drugs and then they were upped a little after my first scan. I think I ended up with about 15 follicles which they tried to collect from and then a few smaller ones too. Your clinic will keep an eye on you throughout the treatment and will be able to tell by the no of follicles developing whether you’re at risk of getting OHSS. Please try not to worry as it isn’t that common to get it, even with PCOS.
I have PCOS and got OHSS on both of my first failed ICSI cycles but as I learnt from my last OHSS-free cycle, the key is to use the right protocol. Indeed, in my first two, I overstimulated due to a poor down regulation programme. My ovaries were already exposed to high levels of hormones before starting my first injection which meant I quickly reached levels of E2 that were far too high and OHSS was inevitable. I also read that OHSS can cause poor egg quality and birth defects. None of my 90 odd eggs collected survived and I was in a lot of pain for nothing.
I therefore changed clinics and followed a new protocol that is better adapted to high responders with PCOS and this cycle was successful with a 12 week foetus on board and 6 beautiful blastocyst in the freezer. I did not develop OHSS on this new protocol. You can find more details on here: haveababy.com/fertility-inf...
I went on the pill prior to my 3rd cycle for 3 months, then overlapped Buserilin with my last 3 pills and first 3 days of period. I was on 112.5 menopur for 12 days and they collected 24 eggs, 7 of which developed into blastocysts.
Good luck with it all and change clinics if you feel they are not ready to put you on a protocol that is specifically for PCOS.
