Small victory in fight against ivf cuts

I’m over the moon because our regional CCG have dropped their cruel proposals to cuts to IVF in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, following the overwhelming negative responses that they had from the public.

Thank you so much to everyone who signed the petition and filled in the consultation - it made a real difference (acknowledged by the CCG) and means that people facing the horror of infertility should still qualify for one round of NHS funded treatment in our area. (It should be three of course, according to national guidelines, but there we go.)

It’s a small but important victory in the fight against NHS cuts and the campaign for fairer access to fertility treatment.

PS. Our NHS is being systematically starved of funding and privatised piece by piece by this government- we shouldn’t be squabbling over the crumbs but demanding proper funding of all services.

I complained in our area in Hertfordshire but they’ve still cut it to NO cycles on the nhs for a further year. This affected us last year and it was terribly upsetting. We are extremely fortunate to be pregnant now through private stimulated IUI, but I still wanted to fight the decision for other couples....I was very sad to hear our appeal had no affect on the plans. No cycles is just so tough, especially when other areas are finding the funds to do 1, 2 or even 3 rounds....I feel for couples in my area! Xxx
