We had our 12 week scan today - we are officially 12 + 3 weeks pregnant with a due date of 31st July.
Strong heartbeat, measurements all correct, and brain, stomach, bladder, 2 arms and 2 legs all identified and looking in order.
So a massive relief after my spotting fears and all my other general worries.
Next hurdle to get through is the chromosome tests, due to my age and results from the combined tests, we had the SAFE screening test today so will get the results of that later next week.
Thanks so much to everyone for the support so far and I hope our journey gives hope to the older mums-to-be out there.
We've still a long way to go but so far so good
Xxx

Congratulations! What a lovely image! I am sure that everything will be just fine for your results but I am thinking of you. Sending lots of love x x x
That's awesome awesome news and what s lovely picture. Can I ask, as regards to the chrom test. Was that private or can it be done if on NHS. Please keep us all update. Such wonder news Sipidania
All NHS now as we have been officially discharged by our private clinic. The 'combined test' they do for everyone which is bloods plus nuchal folds which they look at in your 12 week scan. The SAFE test is a screening test they offer for free on the NHS if your combined test result gives you a risk factor of less than 1:150. Ours came in at 1:53 although 'typical' risk based purely on my age without including my blood tests is 1:42 so my hormones suggest slightly better odds. As my husband thoughtfully put it (!!!) you wouldn't bet on a horse that had odds of 1:53 so I'm hoping our tests come back as low risk.
Great news & good luck with the other tests! I'll be starting journey again in next week or so, so ur story does give hope for us as they so insultingly call us 'geriatric' ladies!!! 😝 They gotta come up with a better terminology!! x
Lovely news! I love reading good news stories like this. I am 42 and about to start IVF and I feel encouraged today. Congratulations and best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy x
