Hi, I m on my first ivf round long protocol, I started acupuncture when I started the pill. I did a lot of research and it goes to say that it improve the chances of conception on IVF at a rate of 2 sessions a week for 3 months.
Good luck
Hello
I had IVF during our cycle. I found it was relaxing and had heard it could improve your chances of IVF working so figured it wouldn't do any harm! If you do go for it just try to find someone experienced in fertility acupuncture.
Best of luck x
I had acupuncture on my 2nd attempt and found it calms me and relaxes my whole body. I was on a shorter protocol too the 2nd attempt so could be why too.
I'm on a long protocol again this time and had acupuncture a couple of days ago. I was getting rather snappy and short fused ( buserelin ) bit after acupuncture my hubby said I'm calmer in myself and a lot better.
Not sure if I believe in it helping to get pregnant as it hasn't worked for me yet but I do believe it is relaxing and eases tge symptoms of the drugs so that's got to be a good thing. x x
Hi Mia77, I did acupuncture for my first cycle and didn't find it helpful, but this is mainly because I didn't enjoy it - I found it uncomfortable, especially so on my lower tummy and it was hard to measure it's usefulness because the cycle failed. Also, at the stimulation stage of the IVF, where I was injecting myself daily, I found it hard going to have more needles put in me - it actually stressed me out at a time I didn't need more stress. However, I guess it depends on what you get from the experience - I would try a session to see if you enjoy it. I probably won't do it again - if I felt it was going to increase my chances of success then of course I would, but I'm not convinced and it is expensive. I personally wouldn't recommend it but neither would I disuade others from trying it. As for books, I bought the zita west book and found it reasonably useful, but it didn't answer all my questions (nothing could really!). I've read other books since but have found them all relatively similar in content.
Good luck with your cycle - the hardest part is the waiting - waiting to begin, waiting to start stimulating, waiting to find out about the eggs collected, the 2ww, etc. so would definitely recommend trying to keep yourself occupied with other things, otherwise you may just over-think and over-analyse everything, like I did! It is exciting once you've started, as you feel like you're doing something positive and proactive! I hope you're successful and wish you lots of luck xx
Hi Mia
I'm just at injection stage and EC should be wed/thurs next week. I haven't found it too bad and I think thats because I read a book called get a life a his and hers guide to IVF. It's a real account of a couple at each stage, it's a few years old so some bits are out of date but it's refreshing to read something so real from start to end and I think it helped prepare us. Even my husband read it and found it helpful. The process was and is still on my mind but it reassured me a lot so I really suggest getting this on Amazon and I would recommend it to everyone going through IVF! Best of luck xx
