Hello all,
I'm hoping someone might know the answer to this question. If you decide to go private and you are unsuccessful can you then go on the Nhs or have you forgone your place?
Thank you
Marita

Hello Marita15, like many things with IVF it depends where you're being treated so you should get the guidance for your area. A nurse at a private clinic we attended for some tests did say (when I asked) that the NHS only know you've had treatment if you tell them (!) but if you've had an unsuccessful private treatment you may want the NHS to have access to that info to adjust the drugs etc.
Where I live we get 2 NHS treatments but if you have any private treatment they can refuse you completely. Other places reduce the number of NHS treatments you receive for each private treatment you have.
Good luck x
Hi, start your treatment with the NHS & then select to have your funding transferred to the private clinic of your choice. That way you have private treatment paid for by the NHS (this is what I've done) also my NHS clinic won't freeze embryos but they do pay for 3yrs freezing at my private clinic. message me if you want to know how I went about it in more detail. Good luck x
Hi, I specifically asked this question and was told I was entitled to my nhs attempts regardless of what I paid for privately (County Durham area). Good luck x
Hi! As stated above you can always have your nhs funded treatment at a private clinic. We weren't entitled to any cycles on the nhs so have spent £££££. We have our little miracle now but others at my clinic were nhs funded and had the same positive experience :-). So I really would not turn down your nhs funding just do your research and find best clinic. Good luck! Xxx
Thanks all xxx
NHS will only find a clinic that your CCG has a contract with so not just any private clinic so I would check that. The other bit depends on area I think. In east lancs.. you loose one of your NHS tries if you go private
