She’s a little stunner 😍 Just wondering if you’re finding it difficult looking after little one on your own after your partner goes back to work? My partner is planning on taking 3 weeks off after birth and then I’ll be on my own for 8 hour a day! Very daunting x

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to ZiggyandBC

yes it’s difficult but get yourselves to groups lots of groups! You will get in the swing of things but it takes a while. Don’t rush anything and do not worry about the house 🥴. Best bit of advice get someone outside of your household that you trust and enjoy the company of to help from early on. I have nobody to help feed or settle her and it’s exhausting I just don’t get a minute. You will do great and trust me there’s days I feel I’ve failed xx

Thanks hun 🤗

Yes I remember it well, it’s the hardest bit, they then settle down and you get some rest and decent nights sleep and the teething starts lol 😂

I wouldn’t change it for the world I love my ivf miracle.

Enjoy hun xxx 😘

Beautiful!! 🥰

she’s gorgeous fudge! What a cute little outfit. If you get a chance to reply, what were the most useful things you bought for Libbie in those early weeks? Obvs I’ll get all the necessary clothing, muslins, nappies. But any bits of gear you couldn’t live without? Thank you!xxx

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to ClaireB24

yes!

White noise machine,a couple of different swaddles (we like the tommee tippee growbags then the arms up swaddle),ready to feed formula bottles (bf only worked for a few days for me) these are fab if you need them,Nuby rapid cool, nose frida sucker (a must),room temp (standard one don’t bother with a fancy one),and something you can’t buy is take the help! Take it from day dot as the exhaustion is crippling after a while and baby needs it to be used to someone else settling them 💗 that’s all really for the first weeks. Loads of good luck 😘

muslins muslins and more muslins!!! but the absolute saviour for nighttime nappy chnages was baby gowns, you can get them from John Lewis and frugi and save so much time poppering up babygrowns, I only wish I'd thought about them with baby number 1!!!

infacol- saved my life! A night light And I wish I bought less outfits and more vests and babygrows. Most of her outfits went unworn and in the early days there is just no time to play dress up

She’s lovely! Congratulations !

can I ask what recovery from caesarian has been like please?

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to helodie

first 2 weeks were a challenge I couldn’t get comfy to sleep I needed a recliner chair and ours was delayed. It was painful but once I got some decent pain meds from GP it was so much more comfortable! Keep it clean & dry I never had an issue with my wound at all. I did get very bad leg swelling which lasted a good two weeks 🥴. After week 3 I was walking and getting back being more myself. Haven’t had any issues from then. So keep on top of pain meds, get a recliner if you can even borrow one, rest, legs up all the time if sitting, keep it clean & dry. Oh and take any help!xx

This is very generous of you to offer advice, this practical stuff if so useful. I wonder if we could have a support for parenting after IVF board on here too? My baby is also 4 months and I’ve found it much harder than I expected, a lot to do with all the IVF experiences that came before - I realised I started parenting already emotionally burnt out 😞 I suspect I’m not alone x

DJ202 profile image
DJ202 in reply to JuicyLu

This is one of my worries too, there's just been so much emotional hurdles and pick yourself up every time and then the real fun begins when baby is there! Any postpartum support/ advice is definitely going to make a big difference! x

JuicyLu profile image
JuicyLu in reply to DJ202

I think more support for parenting after IVF would be really good. I’ll see if Fertility Network has any resources x

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to JuicyLu

aww it is really hard and the exhaustion is a kicker! Your not alone. The anxiety is so hard especially worse being ivf I agree. I try really hard to get out as much as possible and I let my other half help he does a couple of nights a week. I do anything and everything to survive the rough days. Always available (well in time lol) for a private message xx

DJ202 profile image
DJ202

That's very kind of you and Libbie is beautiful! How did your postpartum recovery go after the section and when were you able to lift baby, engage in normal things, have a massage, get back to walking down the stairs, have exercise? Any wound healing recommendations? Thanks so much x

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to DJ202

it was rough for a few weeks I’ve relied to someone else just above. Yes I could pick baby up no issues just be careful bending I could also slowly do the stairs. I would of rested (slept) much better in a recliner so if your getting one or could borrow one that would be brilliant! Wound care was simple let the water run off you in the shower then use a dry clean flannel to dry it off after or the cool setting on the hairdryer. I didn’t mess with it much just left it clean and dry. The dressing stays on for upto 5days so I left mine on for the full 5days and let the midwife take it off. By 3wks I was feeling a lot better. Good luck 💗xx

DJ202 profile image
DJ202 in reply to Fudge1980

Thanks lovely, that's very helpful! I'm still hoping baby might turn so a Caesarean won't be necessary, but I'm planning for it! Hope you and baby are doing well! x

aw she looks gorgeous and you sound like you’re doing great ❤️ How long did you stay in hospital after the c section? Do they allow partners to stay with the mum or do they have to leave at night time? xx

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to Mahriya

I only stayed in one night and they don’t allow partners to stay over night although they didn’t actually ask him to leave. We got back to the ward about 3pm and he left at 10pm xx

💗🫶🏼

hey Fudge 😃 she’s a little cutie. I’m nearly 6 months in now and just saw your regression statement. I think it’s fair to say there’s regression all the time or so it seems. Our nights are only just improving now she can roll and sleep on her side and front. Her daytime naps that I’m in charge of are awful - she won’t do the 2 hours at lunch only does 30 mins at a time and I can’t get her asleep in the cot without rocking to sleep, and lying myself on top of her in the cot and stuffing a dummy in 😂

I have a question for you though. I’m still looking a few months pregnant (needless to say the diet hasn’t gone the greatest but neither am I pigging out) and I very much have the c section shelf too. Do you?

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to Positivechangeplease

oh the dummy struggle 🫣

Yeah I have the “shelf” but tbh am not too bothered right now. Maybe my age or the fact I’ve had a baby body for 25yrs so I’ve got used to it 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know how to dress my shape and what support underwear works best 😂 Get some good support items 👌🏽xx

Positivechangeplease profile image
Positivechangeplease in reply to Fudge1980

Ha! I’m dressing in all my dresses I wore in early pregnancy and getting a size up stretchy jeans and hoping that will help. Sadly this is not my body I know so it’s getting me down a bit but I’ve heard of others too that have the c section shelf.
