Hiya, I had the procedure last year. It didn’t hurt at all and I couldn’t watch but my husband said a long needle went in. I had to keep very still as they did it. There were two ladies who were so lovely and made me feel at ease.I hope you’re ok xx

Ah thanks Gem - if you don't mind me asking where does the needle go through? Did you take pain relief? X

It went into my tummy - I can’t remember exactly where but maybe just below my belly button. I think they numbed the area and then I took paracetamol afterwards but I don’t remember any pain xx

Thanks so much for the info - I am not sure whether they will offer it to me - but I cannot do the harmony test so wanted to be prepared for it x

If they suspect issues after the 12 week scan and combined blood test, I was told they would consider doing NIPT… Do you mean you have not been offered NIPT or that you won’t do it privately? I would enquire if you only meant the latter…

I can't get an accurate result due to having 2 sacs with 1 vanishing twin that didn't develop....so was preparing myself for amniocentesis....x

Take deep breaths in and out. Remain calm (as you can) and yeah don't look at the needle.

It doesn't hurt, you just feel a pressure. Take it easy for 2 days after. Bed rest etc

I am not sure if they automatically offer it to me due to my age.....but thanks for the advice, I will take it very easy after if I have the procedure. X
