Recurrent ectopic then success?

Hi all, I hope you all had a nice Christmas despite everything that is going on (in the world and any fertility problems!) Just in a&e right now with a suspected ectopic (I had one ruptured with natural conception age 20 which resulted in a tube removal) this is my first round of IVF and if this is a second ectopic I’m wondering if there is anyone with experience of recurrent ectopic who have gone on to have a successful pregnancy?

Hi, sorry to hear you are in hospital. I’ve had two natural conception ectopic pregnancies resulting in both tubes being removed. I then had to have IVF and am currently pregnant. If it is another ectopic, if they’ve caught it early enough they may give you the option to save the tube but by then it is already damaged and will have a scar tissue which may just keep ending in further ectopics. A horrible decision to have to make. Wishing you all the best x

Congratulations Nat246 fabulous news to hear, I keep having to do Beta tests as they cannpt find anything on a scan so not even sure what is going on, it does seem to be ectopic though from what they are saying. I am not over precious about the tube as you say, removing it reduces the chance of a further ectopic, just didnt expect an ectopic outcome from IVF, give theovum travelling through the tube part of conception is side stepped. The things we have to learn the hard way huh! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy

Hi hun, I’m so sorry to hear about ectopics! I’ve had three, lost both tubes & an ovary. I’m now 24 weeks pregnant after IVF. I actually made them take my tube on the 3rd ectopic as supposedly you get better results from IVF if you have no tubes (only if you have tubal issues). Always hear of you need to talk xx

I am so sorry for what you are going through!! I had an ectopic in my right tube in 2018 and had it removed. On my second round of IVF I had another ectopic on my right ovary, this was Jan 2020. I had to have a small bit of my ovary removed. I am currently pregnant following my 4th IVF cycle. Early in this pregnancy I had pain to the left side and was convinced it was an ectopic in my remaining tube, but it wasn’t! So I want you to have hope that this may not be another ectopic and also that if it is, all will be fine and you can get through it. Thinking of you xxx

Thank you for replying kitscat and congratulations, what a journey it has been for you, I feel like just asking them to take the tube away, I feel like it is a better option for me to reduce the risk of further ectopics and to avoid the methotrexate injection. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy

I was going to ask exactly the same thing if I had another ectopic. When I went in with the ovarian one I asked and they said no. I hope you feel better soon and you get your rainbow baby very soon xx
