IVF Waiting and Pursuing Adoption

Hi all

Looking for advice. Has anyone been on the waiting list but also been considering adoption?

Adoption is always something my husband and I were considering prior to finding out we needed ivf. I have friends who have adopted and they advised the process can be long we registered interest and a nurse at our ivf clinic said we aren’t allowed to pursue both I have tried googling but can’t find anything to say we aren’t allowed.

Please don’t misunderstand me this is not a back up plan even if ivf is successful for us we would adopt regardless

Thoughts please? Xxx

We have had to delay and pull back our adoption application until ivf is finished and it’s all on hold indefinitely due to covid. It’s a trying time we live in now! Fingers crossed services open soon xx

God bless you. How are the things going for you now? Are you still on the waiting list? I've been through ivf with donor eggs resulting in a DS. And yes, we were considering adoption but as a back plan. It was me who wated to exhaust all the ways through ivf OE & DE. This might sound selfish but this was my individual path. Our clinic started to work with us really fast - after 2 weeks we've applied for help. They first tried with own eggs, but soon it got obvious they wouldn't do. So our sweet dr advised looking onto donor eggs. Dh and I knew that we might need DE one day to succeed in the program, but truly I wasn't prepared as much as I thought. It's never easy to realise that your genes will die with you, you know. Anyway, we are through now. All this looks like a story from the far past now. I don't have a single thing to regret about. I'm wishing you all the very best of luck, whatever you path might be. Hoping you'll enlarge your family soon. Keep us updated x
