Overweight and need IVF

Anyone been overweight and going through the IVF process. I'm worried that my weight will have a big negative effect. I'm 5ft8 and a size 16.

Hi it usually goes on bmi which they told us needed to be 25 or under. X

Depends where you live, as our bmi is 30 and below. I am same height as you and a size 16, my bmi worked out at 29.9 😁 I put some weight on in my last cycle so trying to get in back down now but finding it really hard. They will postpone your treatment until your within their guidelines x

Hi amzjp I think every clinic is different but at mine (Manchester) your BMI had to be 30 or under. They work it out and I think they hold off until it's under that if necessary. Hope it all goes well for you xx

Mine (Bristol) was BMI under 30 I'm 5'8 (and a quarter😁) I was a size 14/16 when BMI was 28. I then put on weight after failed ICSI BMI 31 now getting it back down again for treatment in October. Currently 29. They said IVF work best with BMI at 25 and and close to that you can get the better odds of it working X I'm having treatment in Cyprus and they don't worry about weight as much but I still trying to get weight down as can only help! X
