I was just wondering if anyone has been able to do an IVF cycle with weight slightly over 30 bmi?
I have PCOS & other issues and my weight has been bouncing up and down (I loose weight and gain it without doing anything!). I've now started some meds prior to starting IVF. Everything with my clinic (who are great!) Has been online or on the phone. I'm due for blood tests next week and will probably be weighed. I've just realised my BMI has gone back up to 34! I was already to have my treatment, lost weight ready for treatment but the 1st lockdown happened
I'm reading the faqs on my clinic and they said they can't continue treatment for BMI under 25 and above 35... before I chat to them next week does anyone have any experience of this!?
Thanks for any advice you can offer in advance.

EDIT: for anyone else going through this. Yes. Weight is vital under NHS IVF. I had an appointment for blood tests this week. The nurse said I am little too heavy for NHS treatment but hasn't cancelled my cycle. I have just under a month until my baseline scan, if I'm over 30 on the day of the scan the cycle will be stopped. If I was a private patient, my clinic would be able to continue at the weight I am.
Its all to do with funding I suppose. A little mean but it is what it is. Wish me luck in shedding a ridiculous amount of weight in just under 4 weeks! 😱

Hi Lacey, my clinic never mentioned weight or bmi concerns and my bmi is high too at 33. We went through the entire process and just transferred a frozen embryo. You should still be able to go through IVF and no be restricted in starting. Good luck!
I would say private clinics are more flexible but NHS not at all. I am on the other end comparing with you, I am underweight. NHS did not allow me to go ahead with the treatment until I reached BMI of 19(minimum required), when my BMI was 18.6- 18.7 🤯😤 very close. I had to go to dietitian to help me 😁
They checked my weight every time I was going to the clinic for different reasons. It became very frustrating and depressing for me. Hope you will be luckier than me. All the best ❤️
Thankyou for taking the time to reply. I'm sorry to hear they were that fussy with you regarding the start of treatment. My clinic is private but I'm having treatment on the NHS through them so I'm not sure where I stand. Their FAQs say the bit about BMI but I'm not too sure if this if for the private patients (they use same paperwork).
