Confused about zero carb/oil/fat diets for NAFLD/NASH

Diets for NAFLD/NASH call for almost little to no carbs, they said eat vegetables and whole grains. By carbs do they mean complex carbs or just refined carbs? Also they said stay away from oils and fats? I thought eating olive oil, avvocodo, walnuts and healthy fats from fish was a way to reverse it or stop damage?

Any insight would be appreciated, I'm too afraid to eat anything and have just stopped eating for the most part. Even though I know this probsboy makes NAFLD/NASH worse

Hi Tony

You can find someone to advocate for any combination you can think of. We have a research supported program we recommend. Here is a link to the discussion on our website. If you want to follow the science there is a link to a pdf version that contains active links to the studies. We believe in minimizing refined carbs, moderate complex carbs, no sugar, minimal saturated fat, increased mono-unsaturated fat with increased omega 3 decreased omega 6

Yes, I feel exactly the same. I got stage 2 fibrosis diagnosis 2 weeks ago on liver biopsy and I'm at a total loss about eating.

I am also stage 2 but verging on stage 3 My hepatology Specialist nurse has advised a Mediterranean diet, which I started last week after joining this site, and have lost 5lb. Have you joined the weight loss support group and the Healthy eating group as they both have lots of ideas and very supportive
