Will you please tell me what MELD and HE Are?

I am new on here and those and other liver disease abbreviations are not self evident to me.

Thanks.

MELD is a scoring system they use in a transplant center. It is supposed to calculate the probability that a sick patient will die in the next 3 months. It is for trying to schedule transplants so doesn't mean a lot to someone not on a transplant list. HE, hepatic encephalopathy, is when the liver can no longer cleanse the blood of all ammonia and it affects the brain badly. You lose your mind during an episode.
