I've lived unhealthy most my life. 4 weeks ago I started a life change and really turned things around. I started weight lifting and eating veggies and whole foods. I got my blood work.
I wAs worried about diabeties but turns out that was heathy. However my alt and ast was high. Doctor didn't seem that worried. In your opinion is it bad and can it be reversed.
Also what kind of foods should I eat and avoid.

People your age are finding themselves with fatty livers these days but diagnosis is a challenge as the liver doesn't give many symptoms. For most people alcohol and sugar are the big culprits with saturated fats a close third. The alcohol and sugar lead to fatty liver and the saturated fats promote inflammation. The combination isn't a healthy one as people get fatter with the years. Up to a point, the problem will resolve itself with a change to a healthy diet. We have an extensive discussion of the diets we recommend and the disease process on our website. You might start here with a discussion of diet but the details of how it all works is there if you would like to dig into it. We can't substitute for your doctor, but it is good to be aware because many people are caught by surprise to learn that they have progressed to cirrhosis without knowing they had a problem.
I am 42 and progressed to cirrhosis without knowing and without having any outward signs and my blood work has always been perfect. They found out I have cirrhosis because I had GB removal surgery. Follow the link below to find out what works for eating healthy and do not drink alcohol!
