The Secret History Of Breakfast

Breakfast is not an intrinsic part of our culture - I think most of us are of European descent, apologies if I am wrong.

It's been in and out at various times in our history. And what we eat then has also been variable.

I long ago found out that breakfast cereal (and the adage "breakfast is the most important meal of the day") were both invented by John Harvey Kellogg, in his tireless crusade to prevent masturbation; but had no idea that Sigmund Freud's creepy nephew was behind bacon & eggs. Our diet has been manipulated for a couple of centuries.

Anyway, this article might supply some confidence in anyone facing pressure for not eating before noon.

Please note that you can IF and eat breakfast - I usually fast 13:00 to 10:00.I eat a cereal-free breakfast of gluten-free buckwheat muesli, yoghurt, cream, bananas and an orange.

...and it is Friday today so, for lunch, I will have a large all-day breakfast!

Perhaps a new nutritional hero can save the world (from the human population) by popularising a food that prevents consummation and propagation?

The health of our species is deteriorating to the extent that infertility is having a beneficial effect on our population!

What time to you get up? Because I think a traditional breakfast is eaten an hour after rising or sooner. I am guessing that is not you.

You can have breakfast foods at any meal, including the meal you have a few hours after rising. Is that breakfast? I'd say not. You, like the rest of us, are eating when you are hungry, not when the clock says.

I set my alarm to 08:00 - and my morning routine - including a “workout” takes me up to about 10:00.

You could argue that your first meal of the day breaks your fast, so it is, by definition “breakfast”?
