Coronavirus NHS advice.

Hi everyone,

As this is in the news every day with how it's spreading and affecting our lifestyles which is worrisome, it is however a very fragile virus so we can protect ourselves to some degree with simple precautions and hygiene.

My opinion is the healthier we eat the better regardless so our bodies are more resilient to infections.

Here's the NHS Coronavirus advice, please see:

In the UK the daylight hours are growing faster so we have more infra red light and that zaps virus' so I'm pleased about that.

Thanks for posting. Common sense really. I have three events in London this month and I have to admit I'm feeling a bit less enthusiastic than usual about going!

Hi Leeleepuss I can imagine that you are as touching surfaces on public transport and then touching our faces that needs to be avoided, I would imagine that you are not alone in feeling intrepid but the organisers won't risk the health of anyone.

So good luck with this. 😊

I think the cat is out of the bag - and it would have been, in a week or two, whatever we did.

I think Covid-19 will be endemic worldwide in a few months or less.

I think the UK government is deliberately doing nothing - to get the worst of the epidemic over before the autumn flu season.

I am not being careful -as the sooner I get it, the sooner I get immune to it (I like to think that IF has given me a good immune system).

My town has double the national average of retired people, and we meet regularly, so there is potential for problems.

I think the version of covid-19 we have in the UK is the less severe version - I hope that immunity to it will give immunity to the more acute version.

Why, where and when does the virus spread to who?:

Wuhan and Milan both have bad atmospheric pollution - is this a coincidence?

It might be that the transmission rate, R0, will go down in the Summer.

Am I well-placed in the West of the UK, where we get less atmospheric pollution?

If I fast 20:4, have never smoked or had diabetes etc. what is my chance of succumbing?

Who can say? Better than most probably, but there are factors we can't know. Young, healthy non-smokers succumb.

Pollution and smoking may be key. Apparently most deaths in Wuhan were older men. In China, smoking is 80% amongst men, but only 2% amongst women.

Children are largely immune. The theory is that might be because many colds are caused by coronaviruses, and kids get colds all the time they may have immunity from exposure to similar pathogens.

But I am not unscathed by the virus: I put my last roll of toilet paper on the holder last night. I went to restock and found there is none! I have purchased man sized tissues to tide me over.

WTH, people?

🚽 🤪

Is there any shortage of newspaper?

Subtle_badger profile image

I have no reason to believe my toilet and sewer can handle newsprint. A rubbishbin by the toilet with poohy paper in it, ala Russia is a step too far. It may come to that, but not yet. Especially as there is not an actually shortage of toilet paper, except that caused by panic buying.

And your nethers may be OK with the harsh corners and random chemicals of newspapers, but mine will definitely suffer if it comes to that.
