Fast for flu and Coronavirus

Video by Dr Eric Berg.

I fought off flu - and the friend I caught it from died of viral pneumonia. I had a 68-hour fast scheduled, I thought it would help my immune system and did it anyway - and I think it helped.

Sorry to hear about your friend S11m

Hi S11m I would urge caution to anyone having a 4 day fast whilst ill and would recommend getting some medical advice and just as important some support so someone is checking on you while you are ill.

I'm very sorry about your friend, I had pneumonia as a child and have scratched lung as a consequence so have to be careful with colds and flu and am not sure that my body would want to go without any vital nutrients for this duration.

Safety is paramount to our members so please remember that when. embarking on a long fast.

Jerry 😊

Dr Jason Fung puts some very ill patients on two or three week medically supervised fasts.

Those are medically supervised fasts, not random done at home fasts.

I stop eating when the bugs come out to play and the only time for years I didn't do this, I was very unwell with a cold for more than a week :(

As none of us are medically trained, just adding a gentle reminder to all our members to listen to your body.

Flu and pneumonia can both be very serious as S11m rightly points out, and if you have any doubts if you are well enough to fast, do please stay safe folks, and check it out with your healthcare provider.

Have a great day everyone and wrap up warm :)

Yes, it is right to advise caution.

I think they do now have "Continued Professional Development" for medics.

...but the medical profession allowed itself to get led astray by Ancel Keys and Big Pharma.

Good luck in trying to find a medic who is well informed, and not just misinformed!

Exactly...good advice. At the first signs of the sniffles around the house I stick to water until I feel up to very light eating. I wouldn't go on an extended fast when poorly though

There are many very serious conditions for which fasting can help (cure) - but (Intermittent) Fasting is preventative, as it boosts our immune systems.
