So I've been updating a bit about how lengthening my running time whilst fasting has been going.
I am pleased to report that I managed to run my first ever Half Marathon and that I did so at the end of a 19 hr fast.
I had no ill-effects or dizziness/hunger, and my heart rate remained a respectable mostly zone 3 throughout.
I am not sure what else people would find interesting, but Hidden encouraged me to keep posting mini-updates as there may be others trying a similar approach.
Do post if you are doing anything similar, or indeed if you have any questions. I am no expert, but happy to share my story.

There have been a few reports that athletes perform better on a high-fat diet, but not normally until they have been on LCHF for years.
I do not feel good if I walk 5km briskly 48 hours into a fast, but I can exercise at the end of my daily 20-hour fast. (I am 70, and I gave up running over half a century ago.)
I've been a little disheartened lately and have postponed my 10km goal, as I just can't seem to comfortably run distances longer than 6 - 7km whilst in ketosis/fasting.
Weekend before last I ran 8km very comfortably, and with my fastest time... but I had eaten some berries with honey drizzled over before I started, and had a slightly higher carbs the day before!
I've concluded maybe I should just run shorter distances until I'm better fat adapted.. but I don't really know if that how it works? Or should I push on regardless?
Heavy legs throughout the run, unless I eat something 'carbs' beforehand, but really just lowers the enjoyment of the run, doesn't prevent it.
I'm not very tech savvy, still new to running from starting with C25K in January, and don't have a way of measuring my heart rate, but, yes, that is main way I decide to stop, if it feels like I might be over doing it or pushing myself too hard, if I feel my heart really pounding.
General fatigue isn't a problem though. I don't feel exhausted as such after running.
In answering your questions, it has made me analyse my own question! I hadn't really thought before about the exact reason I stop, but it's definitely heart rate mainly, mixed with a bit of getting fed up of running with heavy legs.
Well well done Stoozie ! I can peddle & I could catch the bus but I don't run . Even if I am getting chased. Keep posting pls. Don't sit still.
Hey this is great Stoozie and I'm sure that it will encourage others and give insight to your experiences is invaluable, you are an experienced faster and that's what counts and shows.
I think that it's a fantastic achievement to run a 1/2 marathon yet alone after fasting for 19 hours so well done you and you must be fit and thanks for telling us.
