Grand Iftar Bristol 2019 🌞

Hi everyone,

Here's an article about the Grand Iftar which's a giant street party to celebrate the Iftar, which's when the Ramadan fast finishes as the sun sets, so it's very important to muslims.

The street party in Bristol attracted 3800 people last year including non muslims and this year 6000 people are expected to attend and is set to be the biggest Grand Iftar so far.

I think that it is great that the muslim community want to reach out to non muslims and build bonds with the wider community and I admire and respect that. 🙏

"Any excuse for a party"?

cynical?

clinical?

sin-ical? It might be clinically inadvisable (even if not sinful) to partake in the post-fast blow-out if you did not fast?

Hi S11m, I know that you're being rhetorical here and I see the Grand Iftar street fair as a celebration that Ramadan is nearing its end and to bring the community together regardless of faith religion or culture.

There doesn't have to be a 'them' and 'us' which the Grand Iftar street fair also symbolises.

So yes I admire and respect the premise of this street party and hope they have a great time.

Yes… Bristol is less than two hours from here… and I thought about joining them.

I went to a fab Iftar at my children's school on Friday night.

Wonderful atmosphere and gorgeous food from many nations
