Advice re Temporalis Transfer?

Hi, I am considering Temporalus Transfer and wonder if anyone could give me some advice - pros/cons of the surgery? Have already had the static sling, but face still wonky and muscles on the good side, are pulling the palsy side. Would appreciate any experience re this. Thank you.

Hello, we will see what information we can get from our Medical Advisory Board for you.

Static slings – elevate face but provide no movement and tend to stretch in time

Temporalis transfer uses one of the chewing muscles diverted to lip, so clenching teeth results in a smile. Improves symmetry, provides elevation and movement but not a spontaneous smile

Free muscle transfer (from leg or chest) is the biggest procedure and provides elevation at rest and movement which can be spontaneous, especially if a cross facial nerve graft is used to power the muscle – but there are pros and cons to using different donor nerves.

You should really be seen in clinic so that you can discuss this in detail and work out what is best for you.
