Hello I am on day 33 since onset I have gained full facial movements. I still feel on and off tight feeling in both sides of my face and some tingling feeling sometimes in BP side near my lip. When it all started I had numb feeling on my lip left side. GP told me that all this is part of the healing process I am so worried and anxious beyond belief.
Some advice : Hello I am on day 33 since... - Facial Palsy UK
Some advice
Anyone with bells I am 5 years post . Still some weakness on my body side but overall good recovery, about 90%
Advice.. lots of prayer.. God is the Ultimate healer. Then when you can get some Castrol and massage your face with this every day as many times a day as you want really helps with the stiffness let circulation in. Next besides exercises when you can, your nutrition is key. Cut out any inflammatory foods such as dairy , gluten, grains except brown rice or quinoa. Lots of water , I mean lots at least 8 glasses a day, green tea decaf, limit coffee unless decaf and no sugar except local honey or maple syrup... eat clean protein, fruits and vegetables.. you will heal faster .. I will pray for each and every one who has this terrible virus, and Gods speed!! You will heal regardless of what drs say... find a good natural physical therapist and acupuncture help also.. just wanted to share what I’ve learned.. hope it helps .. oh and get lots of rest at least 8 hours a day more if needed..❤️
Hey!
This is my second time with Bell’s palsy, first being 7 years ago (recovered in 3 weeks no problems) and this time I’m 8 weeks on mostly recovered other than the same as what you have described, I get tightness in both sides of my face and sometimes even in my non effected side it feels like I’m tensing up, sometimes feels like my non effected side is feeling strange.
The dr told me the same as you and that this is all the healing process.
Don’t worry, don’t panic, relax, and don’t draw attention to you lip, keep occupied and you’ll find yourself day by day not noticing it anymore! This will pass
Thanks for your reply. I will try to stay c calm and let it take his course. Knowing that I am not the only one going through the feeling and sensations I have makes me feel better. The only thing that puzzle me is that once my lip was not numb and paralised any more I thought that all was gone. I also have ear buzzing in my right side. I also not sure what part of my face was affected because it started with ear on left side then lip numb abd could not rinse water out of my mouth and water eye. But when GP he gave me gel for my right eye as he said he did not close enough. My eyes were not affect by paralysis. And I was told I had a mild case or caught it just in time. I am so confused and I feel doctor should have informed me more
You’re definitely not alone with the symptoms you’ve described!
Mine started with really intense pain in my Effected side ear then went onto feeling strange deafness in my uneffected side and a sense of loudness in my effected side, the dr said this is all to do with the muscle in your ear effecting hearing with Bell’s palsy and mine has now more settled.
It sounds with the water eye that you’ve caught it just in time before your eye was effected.
Drs seem vague with Bell’s palsy as it’ll more than likely just right itself in time.
You sound like you’re on the mend though 😊
Can I please ask you if it is normal to feel not a pain as such but strange feeling in both ears as when you have had pain and once gone away you feel something for few seconds. I also feel my muscles tight and when I close firmly my eye on the right side. I am sorry I am bothering you with my symptoms. I am so overwhelmed with this and specially looking at me you would not think there is anything wrong. It is just how I feel inside and the worry at the back of my mind. Thank you so much for listening and trying to reassure me❤️❤️
Everything you’re saying so sounds like me!
I struggled to explain to the drs that now you can’t tell looking at me that I’ve had Bell’s palsy but just can feel something ‘strange’ in my head and can’t explain it! Can only put that down to muscles being tight on/off throughout the day!
It really does sound like you’re just healing, I think you’ll find in time this will gradually just go and you won’t even notice it anymore!
There’s a few good facial palsy massage videos on YouTube you could try, they have helped me.
But I’m no dr, just know a lot from over the years having this twice now, if you do feel anything concerning speak to your drs again, but this really does sound very normal and that you’re healing 😊
I understand how you must be feeling, we’re in the same boat! 😊
